Goodbye, DTR!
Goodbye, DTR!
Just wanted to say "so long" to all my friends on this forum. I have sold my truck and bought something more economical to run. "Down-sized" to a Grand Caravan. No more big trailer to haul, just grand kids. I enjoyed the forum discussions and reviews of all the gear available for the RAM CTD CR 24-valve. I will say, Chrysler Corp needs to step up to the plate with a true Heavy Hauler in these light trucks. Ford and Chevrolet are leaving them behind. Bigger motor and better tranny would be nice.
I will miss my Cummins, but life goes on.
Thanks to all........Steve

We could start a minivan category!
Like Mad said, no reason to leave just because you don't own a Cummins anymore. There's lots of talk on this board about things that apply to ALL trucks. And cars for that matter. And politics. You name it, it's here, so don't go away.
Oh, and then there's the breakroom...

Minivans are great to drive. Have a naval architect neighbor with well over 200k on his 10-year old Toyo. A good one is a true people hauler. And, if it eliminates another vehicle all the better.
Of course, as a "car guy" (truck guy) maybe a 1951 DeSoto Suburban with it's eight passenger capacity and 140" wheelbase could have been dropped onto an early 12V chassis with a disc brake upgrade. Wouldn't even take that much sound-deadening work. Just add three point belts and a killer HVAC system.
Seems like a car guy could find a way to, ahh, "cause" a lemon recall on that minivan . . if he's a real car guy
And since it's a kiddie hauler, the limousine window divider option, too.
And tell the old lady that you'll restore a "whale tail" Airstream trailer to go behind it, all for a lot less than the long-term cost of that van you were lucky to get rid of.
Aren't you glad you have us to help you out of these conundrums?

Obviously you have some knowledge regarding our trucks and life style. Stay on board dud and give back what you got here.
Just because you put on a new pair of shoes does not mean you forgot how to walk

Good luck with the Van, they are usually pretty sold units. My parents have had a couple. The first one was a 95 that went 357k with little repair work(fp alternator, wp, shocks, brakes ac pump). The second one(current) has about 200k on it also with little trouble. Seem like real reliable units.
This forum is the best. I will always check in to see what is going on even though I no longer have my "smoker". Maybe I'll get another down the road.
The 2011 Grand Caravan is redesigned with a single engine option instead of three different offerings. It is a 3.6L V6 Pentastar, making 283 hp. Very responsive to the throttle and rated at 27 mpg on the highway. Mildly equipped, it was just under $30K w/7 yr or 100,000 mile extended warranty.
In retirement I can't afford to own and insure 2 vehicles, so the RAM had to go.

You know your position and money concerns more than anybody so you have to do what is best for you. The van you have has gotten great reviews so you should be just fine.
