Example :

2005 Silverado
MSRP: $47,005.00*
Interior: Leather, Dark Charcoal

Employee price 36,835.53
-3000.00 Rebate
33,835.53

You can go to the chevy site and check on any thing on the lot and it will tell you the employee price.

after all is said and done it's still only a Chevy

Might I suggest you get yourself a Sirus radio and tune in to 143. What you really need is there. It is a good quality left wing talk station that will help you get your head on straight, thus enabling you to appreciate the bits of wisdom folks like me try to bless you with !!

You guys..me included ..are just as biased on DC product as the Ford or GM guys......Face It DC builds crap. if it wasnt for CUMMINS we wouldnt have a leg to stand on;

No one in the truck biz has a leg to stand on as noone builds theyre own diesels. If I ever had to go back to GAS it wouldnt be DC built. I wish a foreign car co would come out with a FULL size diesel pickup.......Look at some of the foreign car co's smaller cars and theyre reliability. FLAME ON

we are seeing that more and more often on this forum. I suspect when a Japaneese full size truck with a good diesel hits the maket place there is going to be a lot of us trying them. I think most of us will be driven there not so much because we don't like what we are driving now but because we don't like the follow up service after we buy "American"
Just imagine taking a truck in for service--being greeted with a smile and the keys to a loaner and a phone call telling us our truck is ready --cost covered by warrenty --and driving away without having to turn around and going back to have them tighten up the lug nuts or take the wrench out of the radiator.

INDEED.......I wish they would hand me the keys to another Cummins powered truck after they mess my cummins up instead of making me drive a NEON for a week while they replace my engine.

I think Honda or Toyota will be the first to do the full size p/u??? Any other opinons?

As a Nissan owner also I looked at the Titan, Nissan is continually talking about putting a diesel in the truck, supposedly they had talked with detriot diesel about supplying the engines, they also have a dump truck in japan that is diesel equipped.

I would say that is a 2 wheel drive truck. Around here they can't give away a 2wd 2500 or 3500 SRW truck.
I still think that it would take years if not a generation for people to actually think of Nissan or Toyota as anything but a small import truck. I don't think we'll see them take over the 3/4 or 1 ton market anytime soon.

I won't buy a Chevy.
Last several needed too many parts before 75,000 miles. Water pumps alt. starters etc.
Since 79, I have bought the Mopars and have changed non of the items lised.

They will be in deeper trouble if they give away the profit to survive!!!
They need quality vehicles and time to show the consumers this. It may be too late for them.

12Pack, I must respectfully disagree.

I believe it is at least partly the dealerships that are at fault. GM has a long history of crappy products and crappy service to the customer. Brand must now lower prices to move other piles of crap they can't get rid of.
Point taken.

How many people who've bought Honda's and Toyota's won't even consider any American vehicle for this reason.

SERVICE:
It isn't just GM. DC service could improve (ask me about my 70 MPH vibe) as could service from most auto makers. However, my dealer is working with me on the problem. They are treating me like a human.
I had alot of problems with the F series I bought. The dealer was great, but it was build quality that caused my problems. For this reason, I won't be buying another.

You're in Charlton? I'll be at Heritage CC in a couple of week for a work tournament. I hope the construction's done on 20.

My dad has always bought GM, and he loves them. When I had mine, I was very happy with it. If GM would build a less luxurious truck (ie solid axle on the 2500/3500, to name one serious lack of forsight) I would be tempted to buy GM again. I would still get a cummins, but the thought may cross my mind.

I'm not so certain that DC or GM always builds junk. My truck has been pretty decent IMO. No repairs needed yet that weren't directly my fault (aside from a backup switch on the trans done under warrantee.)

Also, the local Dodge dealer has done right by me. They did my cold-weather idle reflash FOR FREE. My truck's door frame black decals were peeling from a local car wash. Even 800 miles AFTER warrantee, they not only fixed it for free no questions asked, but they PAINTED it instead of just replacing the crappy decals. So they fixed it RIGHT.

I'd venture to say that the success of any auto manufacturer is probably closely related to the quality of its dealer network ONLY when the quality of its products is lacking. If a Ford dealer did everything it could to help a guy who's 6.0 was a lemon, don't you think he would be willing to maintain a favorable image of Ford? OK-- bad example, hehehe.

That said, I feel a certain loyalty to a Nissan based on ZERO experience with Nissan dealers. Why? BECAUSE I'VE NEVER HAD TO GO TO ONE!! My Maxima has been ultimately reliable in 6 years and 130K miles. NEVER had to go to the shop for anything. I was afraid of a front-drive auto trans in the long term, but this one's still tight. I do all the maintenance myself, and even with the overpriced NGK spark plugs ($15 ea!), I love the car. The engine is a masterpiece, combining bottom end grunt and high RPM power.

Best of all, it's paid for and still in good shape! Those are THE single best qualities a vehicle can have!

I just hope that if things get really bad the taxpayers don't end up footing the bill for a bailout like Chrysler in the '80's. In a free market some companies will succeed and others will fail.
But unlike some... I remember Chrysler paying back the loan and paid it early....
