ford powerstroke
i know the new ford diesels suck and have alot of problems with them, i personally like the old ford diesels ,those old ford diesels were bullet proof!
I like the early 7.3 L non powerstroke ford diesels and the early ford powerstrokes, i really like the the 1999 body style it looks real nice to me.Anyways what do you guys think ,give me your thoughts or opinions on the matter. Thanks fellas!

My father has had a 7.3 non power stroke. a 95 power stroke with 5 speedwith just over 200k. It has been nothing but trouble. it currently is using around a gallon of oil a day. This is about the 5th time it has had trouble this year earlier this year the injection pump went out. This time instead of fixing it he's just going to cut his losses and sell it. he is going to pick up a 98 12 valve this week. he has also had a 99 7.3 This truck was not bad. Except for the fact it turned like a boat and after the 4th slush box was put in within 135k he got smart and bought an 05 Dodge 3500 6 speed so far he has had no trouble except the stock clutch went put around 90k. My main gripe with older power strokes is they seem so much harder to start than the Cummins. And the super duty's don't turn very sharp im also not a fan of there limited slip. All that aside i like the looks of the fords a little more than the dodges.

The 7.3L IDI was a totally different engine than the 7.3L Powerstroke. The IDI's in particular were very hard starting, even in mildly cool weather. Overall, I'm just not a fan of a V-8 diesel, they are too complex, there's no good place to mount the turbo - and due to the upper-rear placement on the Powerstrokes, there'a lot of heat management issues that only get more difficult with each new EPA regulation. Overally, they may be nice for some folks, but I prefer a simple, durable I-6, similar to what 95+ % of Class 8 semi's use. I don't care about speed, just longevity, smoothness of operation, and performance under pressure.
