Anyhow the root of the problem is that it's a 6.0...
The crankcase vapor on the 6.0 is routed so that it gets sucked through the turbo then it circulates through the intercooler. You can only imagine how nasty the intercooler and lines look on a 6.0. A common mod for 6.0 owners is to reroute the crankcase vapors using a 3/4" or 1" ID hose to under the vehicle (CCV reroute).

I know most of these mods as I had a 6.0 for around three years

I did the CCV reroute also.

In that case, I suppose an injector could have stuck and made a Chernobyl piston, and the sound from the intake could be a result of crankcase blowby.

Anyhow, I'm glad it's SEP (Someone Else's Problem), but I hope Ford doesn't give the guy grief trying to get warranty...

Yeah, according to the ford forum, they are the "longest lasting diesel". Maybe if you park it and snap the key off in the ignition.

Does anyone know where we can get a group buy on hitch covers that say "remove to pull powerjokes." I would love to drive around with that.
