Flex pipe question

This is obviously for you folks that have experience using flex pipe.

I bought an 18" piece of SS flex pipe (5" dia) to finish up my single stack install.

My question is. Is this stuff designed to bend very far? (IE: 90*) I can only get maybe 15 to 20* after that it feels like it wants to just tear out the tight side.
I'm not really sure if there's different types or styles of flex pipe, but what I have is the spiral wound (my term) pipe. Kinda like flexible natural gas hose, or dryer vent hose.

Did I get the wrong kind or is this just the nature of the beast?

If I can't make the flex pipe work, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to abandon the idea of a single stack, and just run it out the back end. Which obviously I don't wanna do since I've already bought all the pipe, clamps, adapters, etc.

Help a hillbilly out!

No, there is no way you are going to make an 18inch piece bend 90 degrees. In fact, that stuff doesn't bend very far at all unless you get a long piece of it. I think the main application for flex pipe was to hook the main exhaust off the down pipe to the stack on the cab of the truck, thus allowing a place for the exhaust to "flex" between the cab and chassis. Otherwise the solid pipe would probably break due to the movement of an air ride cab against the truck chassis. I try to use as little flex pipe as possible just because it is expensive and a well experienced diesel mechanic told me that it will raise EGT's compared to reg. exhaust pipe. Maybe get some hard pieces and weld them together to get the angle you need?? Good luck!!!
