Hey y'all,

I've been looking for a FAQ source that shows the breakdown of the different generations of Dodge trucks, the engine and transmission combos of each and problematic issues (47re, 53 blocks, etc.). Anything like that exist?

I'm trying to determine which truck is best for me. Occasional towing of a two car open trailer and towing a 30-35 enclosed trailer with one car inside. Which year truck/engine/transmission would be best?

I like the reliability and simplicity of the 12V but they are getting hard to find without too much mileage. The 2nd gens look ok but may have some transmission/fuel pump issues to watch out for... 3rd gens with the CR look ok as they fix some issues but the price goes up. Quandry...

Any input or links to a good FAQ are appreciated!!

That's a good start but it doesn't specify what transmissions were available for what year trucks/engines. Does no one have a breakdown of this info?

So, 96-02 for the 47re?

I think this month's Diesel Power mag has a breakdown of the the engine/transmission combinations of the big three over the years. However, I couldn't find it in their website.

 

Must be the Hemi in your name, probably just doesn't recognize anything it thinks is Hemi related.
