Easylift Tailgate assist...
Has anyone ever used this product? It looks pretty neat but I haven't seen it on a truck to know how well it works... http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Tai..._easy_lift.htm
I was at an RV Dealer Today and they were telling me about these and how great they were... Anyway... I know it is only $30 but I just wanted to some feedback before I bought them... If they work well my wife would love them.

Haven't used one personally but did know a fella on another forum that bought one and loved it (his wife did even more). I hear that complaint often from the wife while she's unloading her take from the shopping trip
I have one installed on my truck right now. Only one finger to lift and lower tailgate. Requires to drill two holes. One in tailgate and one on the left side where the tailgate closes into. Different from the ez-down where it actually goes down slow. Worth the money I think, but should be included like the Nissan Titans have and maybe other trucks which comes standard.
I really don't think they are that heavy...I guess I've never had a problem lifting or letting mine down, even with one hand. But then again I guess if your wife or kids would be doing it then it would be good for safety.

I think they brought it to my attention because I service a lot of their clients and they want to me help promote it... I might if they give it to me and install it...
I might just get it for the wife anyway... She is tough and would never really "ask" for it... but I like to take care of her.... Too hard to train another one to be as good as her....

I ordered one too. 90% of the time I have one or two hands free and closing the gate is no problem. It's that 10% of the time when my hands are full or I am holding something up or some other oddity that it becomes a pain in the rump to do the gate, so I am interested in seeing how it works.

As far as installation I think you drill (2) 3/8" holes and stick it together. RV dealer called earlier and said they had one installed and to come look at it tomorrow when I am there... They spend a lot of money with me so I guess I will go ahead and buy one...
sounds like you prayed about the tranny deal. i like that. do what's reasonable, not what's new and shiny.
take some pics as you install it,
if you don't want it, let me know, wife can't close mine either
buy she shore can buy a buncha junk...
