Duramax vs Cummins towing video, Great viewing

My favorite part is that he starts whining about his truck being in limp mode and whining how it's not safe to drive on the highway in limp mode. DUH!!! Limp mode is designed to limp you off the highway so you can stop and see what's wrong. Not so you can stay pedal to the floor. I also love how he's clogging up the left hand lane and is just intentionally abusing his truck. Now I understand that he's upset that his really expensive truck isn't performing the way it should but that's no reason to intentionally abuse it. Jeez this guy's an idiot. Oh yeah. I love the fact that the code wasn't even involving the engine temp. Just the rail pressure.

I think the most fitting end to this shmucks video would be for that CDT to be heavily bombed and to puff out a huge cloud of black and pull 20 lengths real fast on him on the hill. I love doing that.

To me the video just illustrates that even a company with the resources of General Motors cannot expect to jump into the development and production of diesel engines and directly compete with the likes of Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Cat that have been doing it for decades.
The experiences of the "old pros" still means something.

I agree, not one of the best drivers in the world. Anyone that has been around the big trucks knows that they will derate under certain conditions to protect the engine. I think that was a good real world test however, here's one for JD Powers to stick in there pipe huh? I'm not 100% sure but I think the LLY was available up to a few years ago, or maybe when they changed to this new 360hp one or something, not sure though, not GM's number 1 fan.......or 1,000,000,000,000,000 fan.........

this is an instant classic, If I were this fella I would have done the following...
1) Backed off when everything started to overheat
2) Quickly stopped taping and destroyed the video to prevent future embarassment
3) Traded that duramax in for a Dodge Cummins
But I am not that guy and I've skipped those first three steps and bought a Dodge Cummins!

I just plain feel sorry for those who bought a 50k truck that would not keep up with a 10 yr old product!!
Scary thing is that the dodge was probably running the ac with the cruise on and the 47re probably never shifted out of overdrive. I never noticed any tell tale puff of smoke as if it did.
After driving the Duramax and the Ford of the same year (2005)
I'm so glad that I bought a Dodge Cummins!!
BTW very cool video!! No matter the reason!

The whole point is that the truck should not have overheated and should have passed the ol' Dodge with no problems IF you believe GMs' propaganda. And...if the truckers were edit you would have heard an airhorn.....I never cared which side of the 'left-lane flyers' I passed on as long as they stayed there! PLUS....It's GM and Isuzu that should be laughed out of the building.
