Duramax vs Cummins towing video, Great viewing
No kidding. That was another sigh of relief I had when switching over from the Duramax.
"ahhhhhhh... a real factory hitch"
Others include:
"ahhhhhhh... a grill that lifts up with the hood and exposes the stack"
"ahhhhhhh... six big ole cylinders"
"ahhhhhhh... a 4-inch exhaust system"
"ahhhhhhh... a solid front axle"
"ahhhhhhh... 17" rims"
"ahhhhhhh... the ride height of a truck"
"ahhhhhhh... a fuel capacity over 30 gallons"
etc etc etc

Didn't read the entire thread, but what are the chances there are more than just me that saw a pet peeve in that guy - stay in the left lane the entire time with people passing him on the right. Come on guy, move it over!! Oh yeah, it also looks like he'd like to destroy his truck. I'd never lend him something of mine.
its not worth wasting my breath making the dmax out to be anything special here, its just as easy for me to laugh along. My particular truck works fine, so I could care less what other duramax's are getting picked on
Meanwhile, back at the Dodge. They're just riding along, enjoying a beautiful day. On vacation and being soothed by that wonderful Cummins roar. Tunes are on. Chatting. Completely oblivious to the screaming, overheated, highway hazzard thrashing away trying to "catch" them. Errrr, the "Superior Product" trying to catch them.

Hit the nail on the head Wetspirit! My thoughts exactly!
Ben it works the same on all the sites. If you are a Dodge man on a GM site you get hammered and vice versa.
For all the reasons just stated is the main reasons I switched to Dodge. The engine is the most important part of the truck. So what if the Dmax has 10 more of this and 12 more of that in the advertisements. So what if the Dmax is doing great in the tractor pulls. It just so happens it has some of the right stuff as far a chassis and trans is concerned for pulling. That does nothing for me if the motor eats injectors. I don't like the idea of my engine having major surgery in the first two or three years.
The real test (for me) is a three year personal experience. Most trucks I own for that long. I expect a reasonably trouble free engine during that time. I don't think you can trust the Dmax for three years without something going wrong with the motor. Just my opinion. Lots of people will say they love their GM. They buy another after one or two years. They replace injectors on all of them. On guys I know is doing headgaskets himself now to save money. These are stock trucks... maybe just a Juice cause he uses them for work.
You can't beat a stock Common Rail third Gen Cummins, let alone the older ones.
I had a GM 6.5TD that was very reliable except for one spat with the injection pump PMD unit. Three years I owned it. Nice truck but couldn't pull a load without overheating. Luckily I didn't pull loads often.
Again you can't beat the Cummins because the motor is the most important part. Dodge got the rest of the truck up to snuff. Now they are addressing the 6-speed auto (lack of) in this next iteration.
My wishes from Dodge would be better dealer warranty experience, a normal full size crew cab like Ford and GM, redesigned front axle suspension with better ball joints and better geometry to eliminate the DW tendancy on some trucks, and better headlights.

I actually admire what this guy has done. He proved his point, The load he was pulling even if it was overloaded (it was not) the engine should not overheat. I mean for crying out loud it was a stock truck!!
Some on here comented that he was running the engine at redline. Well it was but it is an auto!!!!
I do hope that their was someone in the back seat doing the video. How many of you have talked on a cell phone while driving?? And driving in the passing lane is 100% legal in my state. But I do agree it is inconsiderate.
Ford did a buy back on my powerstroke in 98. Dealer said nothing was wrong. Well pictures don't lie, Ten minutes after they saw the pictures I was ordering a new truck
Anytime Ford or Chevy are mentioned on this site it becomes a bashing thread
