Duramax 6 speed?

Hey dose anyone know why the D-max is rated for less power with there 6 speed than it dose in the auto? Just seems werid that they would put less power in the 6 speed than the auto.

Flywheel and clutch last I heard. Couldn't handle the 300/520 output even so they haven't even tried to up the grade with that option. I don't think you can even order that option for 07...

yeah i know they had clutch problems so that would make some since. A freind of mine was looking at them and we couldnt figure out why they would tune the engine down.

Face it GM can do nothing right, they have Isuzu build the engine, and Allison build the transmission. That stupid flywheel setup just isn't doing it in the standard.

Have they been detuned LLYs and LBZs or are they the remainder of the LB7s?

Wait a minute "they have Isuzu build the engine" ??? Last time I checked Dodge had CUMMINS make their engine, and then can't make a truck though enough for it (front ends)

The first dual-mass flywheels behind the DuraMax was too wimpy, but supposedly LUK beefed them up for the Cummins and later 'Max, so I don't why they're still de-rating the Chevy stick... it's ridiculous.

It's the input torque rating on the ZF-6, 6-speed trans. They discontinued the manual trans, for 07' all together anyhow. Only the Allison is available. After owning 6 Dmax's, I can personally tell you the 6-speed manual isn't worth having. If you get a DMAX get the Allison.

What is so hard to believe that a manufacturer would have two or more power levels for different transmissions? Dodge has done it, Ford has done it, not GM is doing it.
Anyone remember a couple years ago when the Dodge was offered with a choice of power levels depending on the transmission? The auto was detuned, remember? How we forget, and try to berate the competition at every turn.

Yea---what he said!!!!!!! Same thing goes for the new 6.7L Cummins in the Regular trucks. Detuned for the G56-----but full power for the 6spd Orion!

Usually it's the auto's that are getting derated, not the sticks. And IIRC, the difference in power levels back in the day from dodge were HO's (6spds only) and SO's (auto or stick).

Finally, some one brought it up. Let's not gang up on Chevy because DODGE is doing the SAME thing with the 07.5 engines. They will derate the engine down when equipped with the G56 tranny while the new 6spd auto will be get the full 350 hp 650 tq.
