DTR's December 2003 Truck Of the Month

Wow! Where has the month gone?
It seems like only yesterday that the TOM Committee (Joel, Dennis & Myself) had to make the hard choice for November Truck Of the Month.

After cruising the Member's Photo Galleries (Now up to 52 pages ) again we have selected the latest winner of the coveted TOM Plaque.

Our winner this month not only has a sweet looking ride, but is one of those members who always goes above and beyond the call to help out in the forums, answering questions, and steering folks to information to help solve problems that crop up in our beloved Cummins/Dodge.

Without further adieu (Must be a French word for "Get to the point" :)
It's our pleasure to announce with help from our
Truck of the Month sponsor
Forest City Diesel

the winner of the
December 2003
Diesel Truck Resource
Truck Of the Month.

Jerry Huber Jr.

And now a few words from our winner. ;D

It's an honor to be chosen Truck of the Month and grouped with the previous TOM winners.
Truck is a 2002 2500 Quad Cab SLT 4X4, just about every option but leather seats.
Patriot Blue and Silver, short bed, automatic transmission.
Purchased March 1, 2002.

Most of my additions have been cosmetic or aesthetic.
First thing I did, the weekend after I bought it was add a drop in bed liner, westin nerf bars, bug shield and window visors.

After I got stuck in the mud the first time, I added a Galaxy CB and dual Firestik antennas in red, white and blue.(so I could call for help instead of hike for help)
Then I went out and got some 315/75R16 BFG All Terrain tires mounted on Weld Stonecrusher 16X10" rims and a 4.5" Skyjacker lift to fit them under the truck.
60" Hi-Lift jack since the stock one isn't quite long enough now.
Full size spare in the bed, it won't fit underneath.
Ordered a Denver Offroad front replacement bumper so I could mount a winch sometime in the future.
Had a muffler shop perform a Mufflerectomy so I could get the exhaust sound right, removed the silencer ring and added a BHAF with a heatshield to hear the turbo better, and get rid of the restrictive stock airbox.

Now that it looks the way I want it, I can start saving for my future performance modifications:
Warn 12000 or 15000 winch.
Gauges of course: Boost, EGT, Tranny Temp and Fuel Pressure.
Edge comp and injectors of some flavor.
Full 4-inch exhaust system.
Transmission upgrades from either ATS or DTT, still haven't decided which.

Thanx to the TOM committee for choosing me.
I'm proud to be a contributing member of such a fine website.
I've learned more from the folks here than I thought possible.

Pictures are on page 20 of the Members Photos, showing the progression of my obsession.

Jerry Huber Jr.
(phox_mulder)

Congrats again to Jerry from the committee.
And special thanks to Forest City Diesel for the TOM plaques.
As for the rest of the members, get those pics into the Member's Galleries.
Next month, we'll be surfin' again for another TOM winner.

Thanx for all the kind words thus far.

I just wish I had the money for the modifications seen on previous TOM's. :'(

That day will come.

Pretty much everything I've done is listed under the pic up there, except a few things I forgot.

Superlift Truespeed to correct the speedometer and odometer.

Set of EricBu's winter fronts to keep the cold winter air out.
You can see the lower ones in the pic, barely, it isn't cold enough to put in the other two yet.

Bushwacker extend-a-fenders to cover the tires and keep most of the rock chips to a mininum.
I need to get some big rig mud flaps soon, at least before inspection time.

I added the air dam from the OEM front bumper to the DOR, mainly to cover the empty space under it, and make it look a little bigger.

The Hi-Lift jack is in the bed, secured to the bed rail with a Loc-Rac also from Hi-Lift.
I have a Bumper Lift, also from Hi-Lift, so it will work on the rear bumper.

And, of course, a set of DTR stickers from the first (and only so far) production run of them, one on each QC window, and a big 6incher on the rear window.
