Drove by the local Chevy dealer...

Well a friend and I was driving around car dealerships Thursday looking around for a used truck for him.. and I saw what I thought was a newer D-Max

I forgot to see what yr it was on the tag but have they released their new d-maxes 6.0 w/ the new emission stuff?

I snapped a picture of what I thought was the particlac (Sp) filter/after burner thing.

I was just wondering if this is what it is, and if you's saw it already..

Maybe its an air scoop for pulling more air into the exhaust stream prior to the particulate trap?

Thats to cool the exaust before it exits the truck when it goes in to regen mode so it doesnt scorch anything.

Sure it's cool for pavement trucks, but what happens when it gets clogged full of mud shootin' up from the tires on oilfield roads.

OR, consider the farmer driving across numerous fields during harvest and straw gets packed up in there. Just wait.........fire stories are coming. Someone never really thought this through for those that don't only drive on pavement.

This was on what looked like to be a truck that is going to be selled as a fleet truck, or ute truck.

Is this GMs answer to the regen. process?
