Dodge Vs. Ford

Alright, well a friend of mine is looking at upgrading to a diesel. Currently he is leaning towards a powerstroke. I'm trying to convince him of the superiority of the Dodge, but since he saw a powerstroke out pull a cummins with more power, he's skeptical. What I need are actual facts to convince him, not just opinions. Let me know what you got.

New or used? I would consider a 7.3, but never a 6.0h no. Have him go to the Ford forums and just look at the problems. If that doesn't change his mind--------Oh well. Or look at the fastest trucks or the most competitive pullers----Not many Fords to be seen.

Why don't you just tell your friend to go test drive both, kick the tires and pick the one he likes best!

Just give the guy a pros and cons list and let him decide.

If he chooses the ford and has trouble you can rub it in a little, however if you convince him to get a dodge and he ends up getting on the few problematice dodges then you'll feel like a jack***.

Cause, for the first 100 miles or so, a ford runs ok!

Help him get the Ford! We can't all drive Dodge.

One of my customers bought two brand new Ford Tow Boss's about 3 months ago. These were around $50,000 each. One of them gave him so many problems that he just traded it in for a Dodge Dually. He's pretty happy with it. He didn't have any problems out of the other Ford so he kept it. It's a darn nice ride.....

Best advice on here.

The Cummins is a simpler engine, with 40% fewer moving parts, it produces more torque, especially down low which is great if you work your truck. That is a big part of what I prefer about one.

But in the end it is his money he is spending, and he should get what he prefers.

What years is he looking at?

Seriously, tho, I have personally never had much luck with fords. Some swear by them, and claim that they have had nothing but problems with dodge/chevy. I think that the fords may have better creature comfort, and more selection, but I'm a simple guy, and dodge does me fine.

Wish him the best of luck!

Like the post before, let him decide. He will find out what he likes. although alot of people will purchase on recommendations or reviews from friends. tell him what you like about your truck. tell him what you know about the ford and let him make the choice.

When I was looking for my diesel i have family members who owned all three makes. Ford=injector issues on 6.0, Chev=overheating when towing heavy loads. Dodge=no major problems. Now I know that dodge will have issues but I went off the experiance of my family members who owned all three makes. I picked their brain and asked them for honest opinions about the truck they owned. I then bought the best truck for me, CTD

If he is making a choice based on one ford that beat one dodge he may not be the smartest guy. Like said before, it it his final choice so just steer him in the right direction and tell him to do lots of research and reading and hope he is happy with whatever he gets.

I tend to agree, How old is your friend? It just sounds like something I would hear in Jr. high if he is making major purchase choices based on one race, he gets what he deserves

Look at the engines alone. Most would agree that's the main reason we're all here, the CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL! Since Ford changed to the 6.0 it's been a disaster. The Cummins has been great each time it's changed. I would the think the track record for the the two really speak for themselves. Now with the new engines for 2007 coming out I'd be leary of the Fords motor, especially since they're sueing Navistar.

Tell your buddy to buy a F**d because...

hold on...

almost.....

Nope - can't do it: racked both brain cells for a reason to have a F**d diesel, even if somebody donates it to ya (with friends like that, eh?....)
