Dodge Diesel Miles

Going to go look at 2 1999 Dodge Diesel 2500's...One with 128k & the other w/ 120k. Both are 4x4 & Quad Cab & Automatics... Is this alot of miles for a 99 & what price range should I expect to pay??? And what type of Problems should I look For? Thanks

I don't think those are lots of miles for a 5 year old truck, but would like to see the maintenance records.

You should post this in the 24V engine forum; this question pops up often.

There used to be talk of bad engine blocks that like to crack. There are a certain string of engine serial #'s to look for (a 53xxxx...... or something?), but I don't know them off the top of my head. Do a search on this site and look for them.

Edit: here's a current thread going right now:

I've got 156K miles on mine. If they have not towed alot they will be fine, if they have towed alot then a new tranny might be in your future. I'm on the original tranny.

I am fast approaching 170k miles, original tranny with no slipping that I can tell. I have a Mexican block in my truck, great fuel pressure, and straight steering. I think I got the best truck built that year!!
