Smile Dodge CTD Question

Hey all, I am pretty new to this site ( visited many times, just now joined up).
But I have a few questions, I will be getting my first diesel in June, it will be a dodge 3/4 ton pickup. It can be either the 12 valve or the 24 valve, not picky on either, its what my dealer finds me.
Are there any major things I need to know before getting into the diesel market?
Any major flaws on either the 12 or 24? If it helps it will be a manual transmission and between the years '95-99.
I appreciate your time and lvoe the site!-
-Andrew

Welcome.

Many folks prefer the 12V since its mechanical and easier to work on. The 24Vs tend to be more complicated and electronic. Since you're getting a manual, tranny isn't a big issue.

If you are going to bomb it, you'll need to be specific about what you are going to buy and ask the folks here what the possibilities are.

Regardless, you will come to love your CTD though you may need a 2nd job to buy all the stuff you want for it.

Haha, I appreciate the quick reply, it will most likely be the 12 valve.
I have eyed them or a long long time, and finally in June I will be able to afford one!
Should I watch for anything with miles on it? What I can afford will have around 100-135k on it, any big fixes need at that mileage?

miles don't matter as long as the truck was well taken care of. I have 224k mi on mine and it runs flawlessly. There are guys on here that have 500k-1mil on theirs.
