Diffence between 06' and 07'?

I'm thinking about dumping my 99' for a used 06' or a new 07' quad or mega cab DRW.
Is there a difference between the two years as far as the motor is conserned (output, emissions compliance)?

I seem to remember hearing that the 06' was the one to have for some reason.

Thanks guys!
Mike

the '06 has the 5.9 litre engine with less emissions the '07's after Jan have the 6.7 litre new engine, in my opinion either get the '06 or an early '07 until the work the bugs outof the new engine just my 2 cents

I've been told by folks here that my dealer is full of it, but he" the dealer" still insists that the 6.7 will not be offered in the 25 or 35 this year only in the chassis cab model. I tried to build it again yesterday on the Dodge website to no avail. I hope dodge will offer it soon.

I was told yesterday by my local sale guy that any order placed from now on would be a 6.7

I don't wanna be the Cummins guinea pig for their new 6.7L! I'll stick with my present truck until the body rots out and then I might consider something else.

headlights and taillights are also different. the reflector in the headlights are moved and the taillights look like they came off an '04-'06 silverado

6.7?

I just got under the wire with special ordering an '07. Infrequently,I travel to Baja and knew that a couple of tanks of Pemex would not go over big with a '07.5 6.7 CTD. Other than that a reg.cab c&c,Aisen auto, utility bed 4wd would have been nice. Other than more expensive filters and accessability challenges, the 6.7's seem to be crankin' for the new owners.

The new 07s also have a huge, hokin, UGLY badge on the side where the "2500" or "3500" and "C" goes for the 06' and below trucks goes...I think it's ugly anyway...looks like it's about 6"x6" and just stands out, taking away from the rest of the side features...also, in the most recent diesel power, they dynoed one of the cab and chassis 6.7s and it only pulled 260hp and 509tq on it's best pull...granted the motor wasn't fully broken in they said, but still...my 5.9 pulled better than that bone stock and has the "crummy 48RE" that so many people seem to NOT be fond of, and the 6.7 had the "sought after" Aisin...I think that I am happy with what I have now. Especially since the SECOND you mod that 6.7 in ANY way, say "bye bye warranty"...just my two cents.

C&C is only rated for 305 hp where as your 5.9 is rated at 325....

and the second you mod a 5.9, you void the warranty......

Stock, I dynoed 276hp/524tq...HP is comparable as far as loss goes to the 6.7. Torque is another thing...the 6.7 lost 15lbs more than I did and they are rated the same. The Aisin is supposed to be setting a new standard for Cummins auto options and I just figured that it would be able to put better numbers to the ground with all the claims that it has been laying.
I wasn't talking about mods such as pressure boxes and modules, graphite, I was talking about the simplicities, such as CAI and exhaust upgrades. Things that I CAN safely do to my truck without voiding my warranty and things that the 6.7 CAN'T do without voiding warranty due to failing to meet the new emissions guidlines of the 07' and newer diesels. The EGRs in these trucks are ridiculous now...i thought that they were bad in my truck, but the way things are now made me feel really good about my 06' purchase, especially with the plans I have for it in the future.
With my intake and exhaust alone, I am putting 291hp/554tq to the ground...numbers that the 6.7 will never see unless it's owner is ready to take the warranty loss, sad as it is. Yet another reason that I made my purchase in 06'.

Mechanically, the 06 and 07 trucks with the 5.9 engine are the same.

The 07.5 trucks bring the 6.7 cummins, 2 new auto transmissions, and emissions stuff.

I don't think I've read where the Aisin is supposed to have less driveline losses than the 48RE... From all accounts, the Aisin is living up to it's expectations(especially the tow/haul feature) and works excellent with the factory exhaust brake.

Why would a CAI or DPF-back exhaust void the warranty on the 6.7L??

Other mods are going to present issues but I have faith in the aftermarket companies... FWIW, there are injectors out for the 6.7L.

I'd imagine that the 6.7L going into regular trucks will surpass your 291/554... afterall, they're rated at 350 hp and 650 lb-ft...

I'd imagine that depends on what warranty work you're trying to get done. Just because a dealership sells and installs aftermarket parts doesn't mean that Star will honor the warranty.
