Diesel Performance Shops in the Canadian Area

Me and a few other diesel heads that live in this area were wundering, where are some Diesel Performance Shops up here in Canada? I'm aware of Piers Diesel over in BC and I know of one in the state of Maine but I never go there and it costs too much to bring stuff from there via mail SO I need other locations on THIS side of the border. With duty and exchange on top of tax it does become a little ridiculous... even though if I wanted something bad enough I'd get it regardless... I guess it's safe to say I have the disease!

Thanks,
Mike

Try Turners or Hot rod, they are both in Ontario, but at least that's 3500 miles closer than me.
www.tadiesel.com or www.hotroddiesel.ca

www.tadiesel.com or www.hotroddiesel.com

the tadiesel is basically a PDR remote location, with prices bumped...

the little bit of stuff i have purchased was straight from BD in bc... then there is nadp in alberta [got my gauges from there.]

but yeah, getting stuff from across the border, duty fees blow...

There is a place in Calgary Called Dagger Performance and further east there is Kingston Diesel. Now I live in the National Capital Region and this place is pretty dry for diesel shops, but there is a couple of performance shops that can order you pretty much anything you want.

There is a great aftermarket Transmission, and Performance shop in Edmonton, Alberta. Called NADP(North American Diesel Performance). Website nadp.ca. That's about it here.

I was going to buy some outwear for my filter outta the states off of the outerwear racing website but that to would suffer from duty and exchange. Therefore I was wundering if there was some place I could purchase this little item in this part of the woods?

i looked and couldn't find any, so i bit the bullit and purchased 2 from outerwears... yeah, the duty/shipping did hurt.. [oh well, so i'll work an overtime shift to make it up... ]

some stuff could be had from www.driverfx.ca, but their prices on lots of stuff suck... they carry bd, edge, bullydog... and their price on the bd short shifter is like $100 more than BD's full retail??? <-edit.. not quite $100 more anymore, but still more than from BD direct

i too have been tempted to open my own speed shop [if not a full shop, a distributor]

mbrp exhaust sells direct also, and they are out of huntsville, ON...

Has anyone tried ordering through Canadian Tire? They can get anything from the Keystone catalogue and so can Parts Source. The only question is price.

the driverfx.ca is basically the keystone catalog... many shops have them.. van & truck world, hitch city...

but yeah, the price sucks... i ordered some vdo gauges from them [CT with the keystone catalog] and the price was ok [comparable to ordering from usa and dealing with customs] if you go to a smaller place like hitch city, they could cut you a little bit of a deal on stuff out of the keystone catalog, but for the same price or less, you can order stuff from piers or BD or nadp, and shipping will be what it is, and you have someone to fall back on for customer service... order some oddball item from CT and see how customer service works...

i've ordered from CT keystone, by the time they convert the exchange and they add CTs cut it comes out the same or more if you buy it from the US, and if you decide to return it theres a 20% restock charge since its a "special order" item only good thing is you get CT funny money back on big items. we be screwed when it comes to getting anyting for our rigs up here

I live 10 minutes from Hamilton and the only diesel shop I know of is Taylor diesel service......they are a Cummins dealer and a BD dealer but that is it......they know their Dodge CTD's well but don't have the greatest reputation around here for pricing and service......and they are far from what I would call extreme. Do you have any other info on this shop?

There is another shop in Oakville called BR Performance but they appear to just do fueling boxes and exhaust - simple work.....but in all fairness, I don't know much about them.

FWIW, I have been less than impressed with the pricing from Turner......I have dealt with them in the past but will not continue to do so because of overpricing......they actually quoted $960 CDN for an Edge Comp!!! I ended up getting one from a friends drag race shop for $710 CDN......after pricing differences like that, I decided to write them off.....I have no experience with Hot Rod diesel in Lindsey.

yup thats it, last time i went in for service the rep told me about taylor diesel and what he does with CTD we was all over me to go and check him out. I'd rather know a good diesel mechanic to go to when I can't do a repair myself. I'm still lookin' for one.
