diesel fuel on the rise, parking the truck

Bought my truck in aug. and love it but with fuel on the rise its becoming a weekend ride and i drive my econo box during the week.

my question is about fuel in the tank, im in california and its between 60 and 70 degrees during the day and maybe low 50`s at night.

should i keep the fuel tank full or near empty? i`ve heard the diesel can get something growing in the fuel if it just sits, is that right?

Keep it full. The less airspace you have in the tank, the less room you have to develop condensation which causes water in the fuel. And when you get water, you end up with algae.

Keep it full as AJ said. Also you might throw some water absorbing additive into it ( like 911).

I would use power service not 911.

Money saved possibly, too. You could fill it up now cheaper than later, if prices keep rising.

+1 on keeping the tank full to prevent condensation and other fuel issues. If you're worried about condensation, something like FPPF or the regular Power Service will do just fine.

Power Service 911 is the stuff for when outside temps are either at or below freezing.

Demand is down, supply is more than adequate, taxes are stable, but diesel keeps going up. The Plan is for us to be paying $4.00 again.

diesel fuel up again

It is a big oil company scam, jack up home heating oil and diesel every year about this time of year- remember 5.00/gallon a while back??
they are going to jack us as much as they think they can!!
diesel is less refined than gasoline, almost a by product of refining and cost more than premium gasoline???- i just dont get it!
sorry to say , but next truck may be a gasser- they just about nullify the benefits of owning a diesel with the price gouging- and there is no reason for the prices to be where they are, we are being penalized for the good mpg's we get!!!

Thinking the same here, not to mention the parts cost difference between gas and diesel. For the cost of a set of injectors you can get a new gas engine. For a super low miles driver like mine that don't work it is scary the problems you read here. Have been a diesel lover since a kid but like the old mechanical type where they ran even if batteries and etc were dead. Now with all the electronics you might as well be talking to a tech support Ghandi out of country.

Don't fill it and leave it for someone else to use. Park it inside, lock the cap---do something. As fuel price increases thievery increases!!

You think you're saving money, and then "give" it to someone else.

Yesterday I read that Iraq is 'opening the spigot' to release a bunch of oil out of Basra. Predictions are that this move will reduce the cost of oil and 'should' reflect at the pumps.

It was an interesting read...will try and find it.

Scotty

found it...

That's the joke on anyone who uses it, they know they can do it and thus they do.

3.09 here right now, .30 more a gallon or the price of premium. About an hour from the Twin Cities area this weekend and prices for Diesel were up to 3.49 a gallon or .60 cents more than reg. un-leaded.

Buying diesel does suck, even if you get decent mileage. I've never been dipped/stopped by DOT, private plates. I just did the math, if I have been buying heating oil for the past 5 years (100k miles) I would have saved almost $6k dollars, with heating oil being roughly $1.00 cheaper per gallon. Max fine in most areas is 1-2k. I would have made out.

I do have a spare 500 gal oil tank in my basement, thinking about looking into on road diesel delivery, buying while its low and throw an electric transfer pump on top. No more gouging.

Can someone explain why diesel costs less than gas in Canada ?
Note the gas prices here . Then click diesel .
