General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

intersting. didn't know air craft like that had a seperate diesel engine for A/C

i figured it was all just electric from power from the turbine engine generators.

That's what we use. -60s to run power and bleed air off the -60 can be hooked up to an A/C unit. The -60 is just a T-38 jet engine.

I know that deutz makes a lot of air cooled diesels. Had one in a 7085 tractor. Just curious is that a air cooled engine that blew.

we have some old airstarts that are the turbine style but most the stuff we use is Deutz, Detroit & Cummins..

we have oil cooled deutz's, water but no air cooled.

the one that blew is a water cooled V8

I guess JetA is more then Diesel now??? cause they would rather run the v8 diesel to cool aircraft while on the ground then the APU's.

just to make sure we are on the same page this Duetz 1015 does not mount on ANY AIRCRAFT...it's a tow around portable A/C unit to cool aircraft while on the ground...

WOW, what a waste.
The 20 cylinder EMD's here at work take either 8 or 9 55 gallon drums every oil change. PHEW.....
