Question Delvac1 for $45 / case on ebay

I found this guy on ebay. He's selling "rain damaged" cases of delvac1 for $45 + shipping. The problem I have is that it seems the foil seal has been replaced with a CAPLUG to "prevent leakage in shipping." Has anyone here had any experience with them?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2491009801
I'm attaching the email from him.

Thank you for your interest in this item -- however since we receive over 100
e-mails a day we can not individually answer questions about Mobil 1
clearance items, they are being sold way below cost as a part of liquidation, i.e.
there is no profit in it for us, if it was legal to do so we would have thrown it
away into trash, but EPA and HAZMAT does not let us do so.

SO YOU GET A HECK OF A BARGAIN !!!

Most common question about the rain damage: (Which can be clearly seen in the
photo -left side of box is discolored)

Just the boxes were rain damaged when on a pallet on a trailer (18 wheeler)
we have over 600 cases still on hand, if you do not care to bid the price is
$45.00 per BOX (as many as you wish) + shipping.

Mobil Oil Distributors pay $82.00 per box for this item.

The Delvac 1 Jugs were originally sealed with thin foil below the cap, but we
found out that this causes leaks when UPS handles it, so we put in CAPLUGS to
prevent leaks.

MIROX Corporation

We accept M/C or VISA

We also own SynLube, Inc. so that is why the oil distributor contacted us
about liquidating this item, we have already sold hundreds of cases to diesel
shops, but still have lot left (there were over 1,800 cases in the shipment).

The ones that are left are good enough to be shipped in the original boxes,
the really soaked ones were already sold.

WE NEED THE ROOM IN YOUR WAREHOUSE !!!!

That is why I decided to try E-bay

We also have Mobil 1 SAE 75W-90 Gear oil in 1 Quart bottles, we need $2.50
each

PepBoys sells them for $9.50

Paper cases on the Gear oil were on TOP of the load and are totally
destroyed, so we have to re-pack them, typically NEW corrugated box costs us from $1.00
to $4.00 depending on size and that would be added to cost of UPS shipping.

for rates go to

Delvac 1 Box is:
size 21x13x8
weight 35 lbs
ORIGIN ZIP 89109

With a zero feedback, I'd be very cautious. It wouldn't leak if it was sealed to begin with.

Lots of ebay auctions are scams. And ebay will not stand behind anyone who is taken. Local pickup maybe, but I would be careful.

It has to be a scam as it would only cost 50¢ to replace the damaged cardboard box with a new one.

$30 for 5 gallons. At the Petro in OKC it's 30 bucks for one gallon of Delvac.

Farm Suppliers - Grangeville Idaho

I usually buy about 4 or 5 buckets at a time when the price drops down! I make a killers saving when I reload buckets! It is either Exxon 15W-40 or Phillips 15W-40. I also pickup up the ATF, 80W-90, Etc. in the buckets!

So I just change my oil's a little early and still pay less than Syn Oil's!

This is the same stuff they use out here in the Cummins Log Trucks and Cummin Log Skidders!

Ask around you might find that 55 Gallon drums are even cheaper! But a real ___ to carry or transport!

Matter of fact my buddy just came back from Grangeville today with 2 - 5 gallon barrels and it cost me $57.88 or 1.37 a quart!

Exxon 15W-40 5 Gallon Bucket

That is a hell of a saving over Syn' Oils or even Dino Juice!

We're talking Delvac 1, not some inferior dino oil.

As far as the ebay auction, I am skeptical of too good to be true type scenarios. It's hard to imagine people would be that unethical to blatantly scam people, but at that price it seems ridiculous. The fact they removed the foil for something else makes me think they filled the jugs up with some other cheaper oil.

RDleader, make sure you are not confusing the two oils, Delvac 1 - which is a 5w40 group 4 synthetic, and delvac 1300 super, which is a 15w40 dino oil. D1 typically gets about $20-22 per gallon, and D1300 is usually $5-6 per gal..

Yep, it's Delvac 1. It runs right around $30 a gallon. Now at O'reilley's I can get the "Truck and SUV" oil for $4.77 a quart. A little cheaper.

Wow RD, thats a rip. D1 can be found for $20-22 online or at CAT dealers. Lets not forget that CAT DEO 5w40 is also relabeled Delvac 1. I have also been getting it as the Truck and SUV oil though at Wal-mart for $4.77/qt. Several people have found the truck and suv oil cheaper though, at local auto parts stores. For a while one chain was selling all mobil 1 for $3.99/qt. I dont really care that much to be honest though since I have a dual bypass system, I dont have to change the oil very often...
