Thumbs up Delvac 1 to become more widely available!

Mobil is about to make Delvac 1 more widely available - their top of the line group 4 synthetic CI-4 Certified diesel oil. They are calling it Truck/Suv oil and I believe it will be carried in wal-marts as soon as this spring!! That should hopefully knock the price down. Through email mobil has responded that this is in fact re-labeled Delvac 1, although it's not being specifically marketed to just diesels. Great news!

Manzout, dunno what you're LOL @, but Rotella T synthetic is old news and has been discussed to death on this forum and many others. I was laughing because it's been talked about so much, I wasn't sure if you were serious... It's a group 3 oil, which is legally allowed to be called synthetic, however it's made from petroleum basestocks. I prefer a true group 4 PAO/Ester based synthetic like Delvac 1

You'll find everyone is pretty friendly around here - welcome. There are MANY many opinions on oil around here, and a good search will reveal MONTHS worth of reading on the subject. If you prefer the best oil you can get for your truck bar none though, popular choices are Delvac 1 and Amsoil. I get my delvac1 at www.avlube.com . Good luck and happy reading manzout!

Due to the expense of Delvac 1 I'll be running a blend, maybe 1/2 gal to 2 1/2 gal of Delvac 1300 as 1/2 gal is convenient. My experience in running a blend in both sedans is that a synthetic blend breaks up sludge and varnish better than straight dino oil, and has helped to free up sticky lifters and such. I expect that it helps to keep the engine cleaner in the first place too, and will provide a slight boost in viscosity and TBN life. In the sedans I add a quart of synthetic and then top off with 4 qts of dino oil.

Let me get this straight.....you are going to mix 5W40 full Synthetic Delvac 1 with 15W40 conventional Delvac 1300......??? Id have to agree with Lightman, that is an interesting approach....

I dunno. . . . I've often thought about running a quart of Drano in the crankcase, along with my 3 gallons of Delvac 1 -- just to keep the inside of the engine shiny, clean out the galleries and the lower bearings. But what about the upper engine?

Might try injecting Drano into the airhorn, along with the meth and water. What'ya all think?

Welcome to DTR, Manzout and 1sttruck! Never mind the insanity. . . .
