There seems to be no end to what some companies will do to get out of warranty problems. Be sure to read the second response!!!

With all the trucks FROD sells, you think they would help a guy out who is away from his home territory.

I hope the guy gets it fixed back in the homeland, Lethbridge isn't terribly far from here.

That would be about enough to put a fella into tears, being on the hook for 16k and you don't know why the first one popped.

I agree, but it's no more crooked than what a lot of auto CUSTOMERS do to try and get out of losing their warranty, such as spending two hours before a dealer visit removing 300 hp worth of gear.

It goes both ways.

Its always been on my dime.

Jack,

I gotta chime in here. My dealer forgot to torque the pinion nut on my front diff after changing the seal and yoke. I started a thread regarding the front end locking up due to this. Wiped out the carrier completely. I heard thier service writer tell the tech that it would be turned in to DODGE under warrenty. They should be eating this expense due to the fact that it WAS NOT caused by a DC failure but by thier own tech. It's not just the customers that lie to DC.

just my .02

I realize that, but does that make it okay for you to do it? Everyone seems to play follow the leader these days in terms of trying to get a free ride. They think that if everyone else is doing it, that it's okay for them to do it too. ...and we wonder why our insurance bills are so high, car prices are higher and medical bills are skyrocketing. It's ridiculous.

No, I wasn't saying that at all. I agree with everything you're saying. It just made me mad to hear the dealer doing it also. Everyone at my dealership knows about and has seen my bombs. I play, I pay, nothing to hide, and I don't have to screw with taking everything off every visit. I think you took my comments the wrong way.

Years ago a freinds brother bought a new Ford f 250 about 88-89 when Ford offered their "SERVICE FOR LIFE"

About 6 months after purchase he got a recall notice on his truck that the line bore was off on his motor and that the motor would be replaced. His new motor is GUARANTEED FOR LIFE.
Shortly afterward the transmission took a dump under waranty, while replacing the transmission they DROPPED the transfer case shattering it like a glass vase.
Transmission and transfer case GUARANTEED FOR LIFE.

A year later he had a leak in the rear differential, but the dealer was too busy to fix it and gave him an appointment to bring it back at a later date. HE BLEW IT UP!
Again the rear differential (Everybody all together now) GUARANTEED FOR LIFE

I wonder WHY Ford does not offer that anymore??

I've since lost touch of my old high school freind, so I don't know if his brother still has it, but he would be a fool if he doesn't.

I with you Jack!

I'm trying to stay stock with the motor until the warranty runs out. Then I might bomb the engine. I'm working at trying to keep the truck failure free. Things like guages and other accessories are great. But, I don't think I'll go as far as Chipping it.

I've got more than enough power to blow off most Fords & Chevys... Sad enough even a few gasser Dodges...

I wonder if the VIN has been put into the computer system, or even if it applies in Canada? I read that other post about the chipped Harley Davidson Edition truck that was forever eliminated from Warranty work by the Ford Rep entering the number in the computer system.
