My understanding is that it was the only entry to run the full race without a fuel stop. And there were two cars, one a four stroke and one a two stroke.
There's a book by Clessie Cummins called " My Days With the Diesel". When I was a kid I wrote him a letter and asked him how turbochargers worked. How could they add so much back pressure and still produce more overall power. He wrote back a very simple letter, but it was fun to get it.
