It doesn't matter that you won't be able to see over it, that the front end will be beyond heavy and require load range E tires, that it will not corner, that the front pulley will be your new front bumper, that it will be totally impractical and completely ridiculous. It's so outrageous that I say "got for it!". Sometimes when things are "off the scale" bad, they become way cool. But, it will never happen unless you make up your mind that it will happen regardless of what it takes.
Be sure its a 6BT with mechanical injection. That way you'll get the full diesel rattle, especially with no hood. A big front stack with a flipper cap would set it off nicely too. Definately an automatic unless you build a rock crawler version. And don't forget the periscope to see over it. Let's go the the drags!

can you imagine project Copperhead from Trucks! with a twinned and way over fueled cummins (common rail or 12v, take your pick, both will get to 700hp easier than a vp44), the truck is big enough, just put a beefy tranny behind it, and some heavy duty springs up front.
DO IT....why not?...i wanna see it...you'll need a really beefy front suspension cause the cummins weighs almost twice as much as a 454...and you'll need good brakes...and ur hood will look like a bubble....but i want to see it!!
I've been saying the same thing for years... Well, roughly the same thing anyways...
If you use a Gremlin instead of a Camaro you can use off-the-shelf crossmembers to put a Cummins in a Wrangler frame, and then put the stock 1970-76 Gremlin body on to the frame with a 4 inch body lift, no front-mounted radiator and a 6bt. Then you could find beefy enough suspension and axles for the Wrangler no problem.
Has anybody ever dry-sumped a Cummins? I still think that'd be the way to go.
And why is it that when somebody asks to put a Cummins in a Camaro they don't have to put up with 5 pages of "troll-eater" and "goat-lover" and "juvenile-delinquent" and "get-a-job" and "ignorant beef hater" and "you're-an-idiot" and "drive-a-Volkswagon".
Just out of curiosity...

I rest my case...
shoehorning it into a Camaro body is another matter- I like the passenger seat idea (for more even front/back weight distribution), but the tracks would likely not allow it...
