Cummins B in Case IH ?
i read a thread on here just the other day concerning valve cover gaskets and it was mentioned to get some from a Case IH implement dealer due to that the 5100 and 5200 series tractors had the B engine in them as well as our trucks. what i was also wondering is if the gear case cover was the same also in the tractor as well as our trucks. my local Case IH dealer is only ten minutes from my house where as Cummins or even Dodge dealers are about an hour and a half away and is more convenient to get parts closer to home. i need to do my KDP fix before my warranty expires and i have three more months to do that but am just wondering if i can get all the parts for it at my Case IH dealer or if i have to get them elsewheres.

well, i dont have the answer for you--sorry! but, you have the internet and ups-that is what i use alot of times -rather than driving over an hour to cummins for filters and related parts.

I don't think the tractors used the same timing covers. We used the 5.9 in some of ours, but they were different. If you would like, I could get your engine serial number and look up the part number on your gearcase, You may be able to use this to find out if a tractor used the same one.
ALSO, I have a new gearcase if anyone needs it, I though mine was cracked, but wasn't. PM me for details.
Hope this Helps,
Chris

They have to be pretty close because I know a guy who put a #10 plate in his tractor. Also you can get the new 6.7lt Cummins in the new Case IH tractors

Yeah, in the right application the pumps and internals could be the same, but I think most gear cases are different. Once again, don't know for sure, but going from the part numbers I have found using our Cummins and tractor parts look-ups, they are different.
The 6.7L uses a Rotary Pump with a rear gearcase like the industrial 5.9L Common Rails. They do have a 5.02" Stroke, though

Case 5100 and 5200 series tractors used the 6b engine , as well as the MX models , up to the MX 170. (excluding the 5120 and 5220 , they used a 4b engine.)
the 5100 and 5200 series used the 1st gen style inj. pump , and the MX series went up to the 2nd gen (12valve) style pump.
I worked in a case dealer up until i started college , so if you have any questions , just ask me!
