Cold Snap Comming! Got Anti Gell Additives?
Cold Snap Comming! Got Anti Gell Additives?
It's gonna get cold in the midwest boys & girls so make SURE you have enough anti gell additives to your diesel or you'll be sorry!
This AM it was 0F here and my poor fuel pressure guage could not make it passed 12 PSI idle, 10 down the road until it warmed up, then it was back to 17. This tells me I need to double up on Power Service (or your anti gell additive of choice, not a brand war here so don't even start) for the next few weeks.
Better to be prepared, than being towed by a ferd. Stay warm!

Yeah, its really cold here too... Filled up yesterday and added the required PS and 2cycle oil... Last cold snap (6degrees) I didn't use the anti-gel, and my fuel pressure dropped to 2psi before the gelling must have broken free somehow. Not taking any chances with below zero weather this weekend...
Wow guys, in 7 years without any type of additive I have never had my fuel gel. Plenty of low single digit temps during the trucks early winters, but the last few have been mild.
I did have an issue one night in Wyoming on top of Elk Mountain where I had plugged the truck in, but the wait to start light came on for about 20 seconds or so. I think the hotel receptacle was turned off!
We are in the negative windchills right now and my fuel pressure was a solid 15psi this morning when I started the truck.

Almost cool enough to put on a sweatshirt here.
-39 (pick your poison F or C), -47 with windchill. No additives in my tank yet, but hey, we blend our fuel to deal with it!
And THAT is why I run 10W-30 oil BTW.

I was thinking the same thing. 4 years ZERO addtives and never a hint of gelling. It will be 0 Deg. F tonight. Maybe thats not cold enough? And it does get even colder than that sometimes.

Thanks for the heads up gieco.
It's going to be colder than -30 tonight where i live
Good thing i don't forget to plug in the ol' girl
