Chirp gone?

After I had my puke bottle removed and the hose extended down and to the center of the truck to puke all over my driveway, my chirp has just about vanished. Once in awhile I will hear a very little chirp, but most of the time it just shuts down nice and quiet.... anyone else's chirp go away after bottle relocation/removal? ???

Tony

Re:Chirp gone?

I've heard of a rare Tony bird nesting in those thar bottles.

Actually it is probably that you do not have your climate control set on the defrost combinations and are sending heat to the floor. The AC compressor does engage with defrost and a few other settings on the dial. Whenever I have my heat blowing on the windshield it gives the chirp...unless the belt is really cold, then it will not chirp.

With Tony, its probably a bird and still chirping but out of his hearing range. quack quack

Yeah, I run the defrost/floor setting... it'll probably start chirping again in the spring. I'll turn up my hearing aid! ;D

Tony

Re:Chirp gone?

I have noticed over the last couple years that it doesn't do it nearly as much in the winter, maybe because the fan isn't running much. ???

If you take the belt off and put it in your hand and sqeeze it together and see more than 20 cracks per inch then it should be replaced. I think mine run about $30 from Cummins. They usually look pretty bad after 20k miles. So if you're still on the original it's a ticking time bomb.

DB
Wow Phox I had a Jeep with similar sensing abilities.
I had a Mac truck bulldog mounted on the hood, and a cheap window washer pump hooked to a gallon jug of fresh water on one end, and a small tube that slipped thru a small hole near the base of the dog. ;D
It seems everytime that bulldog sensed somebody walking by it would emit a small stream of water out from between the dog's legs and directly at the individual walking by the front end. 8)
Perhaps both of our vehicles were possesed by similar little demons
