Since Ford now owns 100% of Cummins. it will be the 5.9 going in. This is why DC has gone to Benz engines.

Not this again?
I thought D/C's contract with Cummins was extended through like 2009 or something?

Could have sworn I read that Ford owned less than 10% of Cummins?

As far as i know Cummins is a publicly traded company and is not owned by Ford at all. I could not find anythign to back up the "ford owns cummins". Talking to some engineers that i know that work at Cummins, they say quite the oppisite, that ford and cummins are not getting along right now and that ford owns now part of cummins...but...who knows for sure, all these rumors and everyone is hearing somthin different.

No Cummins, No Cats! What I read was, they are re-doing the 6.0L to be a 6.4L with Twin Turbos. Its suppose to be out it 2006-07? I'm not to sure how the will cram twins in a Powerstroke?

Ford does not own any of Cummins, the Dmax will stay in GM since it was designed by Isuzu that they the biggest piece of the pie. They also built a plant to build the engines.
Rumor is that Ford will go to redesigned 6.4L twin turbo. The HEUI fuel system will be short lived and replaced with HPCR.
Cat has done be doing away with the HEUI system also. Large engine have with to EUI and smaller engines at 9L down will be going to HPCR also.

OMG!!! I hope you all are joking. The cummins isn't going anywhere until at least after 2007, as far as Ford goes, I'm sure they'll stick with the PSD for at least that long, and the Durajap isn't going anywhere either. Everyone has their eyes on the 2007 Diesel Emissions squeeze and I seriously doubt that you will see any major changes until then... And Ford owned 10% of Cummins in the 80's but sold out completely in the early 90's. There is a link somewhere...on the Cummins site that states this. Someone help me out.

Powerstroke is simply a Ford owned brand name... it can be slapped on whatever engine they decide to slap it on (with the engine mfg's permission of course).

Ford IS moving toward inhouse manufacture of their diesel engines btw... all related to the pending diesel emission standards.
