case skid steer with cummins??
Does it lock up , or roll to a stop like it was in neutral? Next time you try it , step on the clutch , and count the number of times the trans light flashes , IIRC it only goes up to 6 or 7 flashes. There should be a page in the owners manual giving you the reference for the # of flashes , if not, let me know and I will check my book , it will really help narrow things down. It might be a really cheap fix.
It will be the one on the far left of the dash , i can't remember if it says "check trans" or if it is the clutch dis-engage light. when you shift it into 4th , the light should come on , then step on the clutch , and hold it down until the light stops blinking , and count how many times it blinks.
Yes it was a 4BT... Case IH is no more; Case New Holland is the new company... That is why they switched power plants. Personally I am looking closer at the new McCormicks. They are the EXACT same tractor as the old magnum series just that the smaller ones are Perkins powered; cummins power comes when you get above 90hp.... 90-135 ISB 90-270 ISC and I would only assume that their new articulators rated at 300+ are ISX powered. We have nothing but International/Farmall tractors on the farm so that's what I am partial to and as an Ag Mechanic I can say that I like the way the IH's are put together.
On another note, a buddy of mine found a burnt up 1840 skid steer and is gonna steal the engine so we can drop it in his 95 S-10 Blazer

I had a chance to check it today. Shift into 4th on the Powershift and the tractor roles completely to a stop. No warning light comes up on the dash. I know it works because I put the tractor in 4th gear and put the shuttle in reverse and the light came on like it is suppose too. So I believe what my bossman told me in the past, it will be an expensive fix.
Ok , I am going to check my book tomorrow if i get a chance , and I am going to get you to try something and see what happens, What I will get you to do , is swap the wires for 3rd and 4th gear selonoids , so when you place the gear selector (power shift) where 3rd would be , it will be in 4th , then let the clutch out slowly and see what happens, this would rule out an electronic problem, although it is actually sounding like maybe there IS something mechanically wrong inside...
