CA smog test fail

I had to smog my truck last week, a 2007 2500 4X4.
Everything was fine till he noticed the aftermarket fuel pump. The airdog.
No way would he pass it unless I returned it to stock. I almost wanted to hit him, especially after he cost me half a day in wages already.

Took it 10 blocks away to a Chinese guy who never even noticed it, thank God.

Beware.

Maybe I am dense, and surely I am glad that I live in a state that isn't so restrictive. But, why would the fuel pump matter?

Thats the same when I had to do a out of province inspection on my truck...The front drive shaft needed replacing so I took it out...I called a place and they said they would fail it because of the missing front drive shaft..I said instead of it being a 4x4 its a 2wd..The guy was a idiot...The other place asked me if I was going to replace it and I said yes..He said that good...Passed...

It's all about who you go to. My truck has no muffler, but still has a cat. I've got aftermarket guages, and the guy didn't even look under the truck at all, or even pop the hood. He started it up, revved it up a couple times, looked for smoke, and said "That'll be $59.95 for smog and certificate please". Took him all of 3 minutes. Diesel smog is the worlds biggest joke. If Semi tractors don't have to smog, why should a full size truck that is diesel?
