Buying a cummins soon.

Hey guys,

I'm new to the diesel world, and I am going to be purchasing a 2nd gen ram with the cummins soon. I am still shopping around and wanted to know if theres anything I might want to look for. Thanks in advance for your help guys.

If 4x4 check the Ball Joints and trackbar for wear. If 24 valve you might want to stay away form a 53 block they are prone to cracking. If you are wanting a 12v the 96 to 98 manuals have the big 215 pump which is good.

Yeah, look for a 12 valver... That is, a 1997 or early 1998 with a 12 valve engine and 50,000 miles . And, welcome to the site!

Thank you for the welcome! Thats what i needed to know. I guess Dodge 4x4's just have crappy stock balljoints lol. Changing the blown ones on my moms 65k mile 98 durango 4x4 was hell.

At first I didn't mind having a 24 valve or a 12 valve, but now that I've had my 12 valve, I love it.

BUT, if it has a Cummins it doesn't matter.
