The Burning Questions

WHY does my cooling system gargle when truck is turned off its very noticeable and Ive never heard any of my other vehicals do it.
What does IMOA mean??
Is changing the oil every 5000 miles too soon. NORMAL OIL (ROTELLA T)
How do you keep your bugshields looking new ?? IVE tried many things windex, armorall, and more and it still goes dull looking
IS the stanadyne I use at every fill up really needed ?
What do you clean a rino liner with to make it look new??
Okay thats enough I didnt want to start 6 threads to get the answers I tried the search ,but I wasnt too lucky... Thanks all.

IMAO means In My Arrogant Opinion, don't know what IMOA means.
Maybe the Irish Marina Operators Association?

Sure it's not your A/C gurgling?

I change my oil at 10k, you probably can too with Rotella, whatever makes you feel good. There have been vast improvements in motor oil technology since the change intervals were first written up. Even in the last year. That's the main reason why the '04s can go 15k, it's the oil, not the engine. Highly doubt Cummins is going to go back and rewrite the book for older engines just because the oil has gotten better.

Wish I knew on the bug shield, mine looks horrible, never been able to get it looking like it did when new.

thanks
IMAO ---thats what I mean
Ill try to force my self to 7,000 miles between oil changes . For some reason I like changing my oil you kind of get the feeling of a good accomplishment.
Ill wax my bug guard and see what I get
I dont know how to purge the air from the cooling system ..so The next time I hear it ill pop the hood and grab the a/c condenser and see if its making the noise.
And Ill try the old soap and water and elbow grease on the rino liner
Well it sounds like Ill be busy Tomorrow.

Your cooling system should be sealed. No air should enter if the cap is working right and there is some coolant in the overflow bottle.
IMHO, in my humble opinion???
I do my oil at 5k or so, depends if it looks dirty. I can usually go 6-7 k before it gets darker on the stick.
Dont know on the fuel additives, only used Lucas a couple times.

If the diesel fuel in your area is the Ultra Low Sulfur kind you better use some kinda additive because the lower the sulfur content the less lubrication the diesel fuel gives to the fuel pump, injectors, etc. Even just half the recommended dose of additive is better than nothing. Sulfur is the same thing to diesel engines as lead was to gas engines years ago.

Use a stiff bristle brush to clean the rhino liner...that'll dig into the pores easier.

Pressure washer and some STP son of a gun lightly sprayed on the liner will make it like new again but also a little slippery.

I would look into your water pump for the gargle. I had a dakota that did the same thing; It got progressvely worse and after a few months my water pump sprung a leak, replaced it, and all was fixed.

"If the diesel fuel in your area is the Ultra Low Sulfur kind you better use some kinda additive "-----How do you tell ??
"Ill wax my bug guard and see what I get"------It looks alot better but the under side needs waxed too. and Im not gonna take it off every time I do a real good cleaning job on my truck. and you cant really wax it while its on. sometimes I wish one of those little bug shields on the side would just break off so I can remove the whole shield, but Im pretty sure the one accross the hood has screwed up the paint right behind the grill.
"Pressure washer and some STP son of a gun" I want it to be slippery and clean to a certain point. is that stp son of a gun like armor all,or is it a degreaser,I might be able to susitute something if I cant find the stp
"I would look into your water pump for the gargle" -----Im still hopeing its the A/C

Dieselminded,

Rhino makes a product called "Rhino Shine Ultra" (available at your Rhino dealer) that can be applied with a paint brush. I have a bottle but have not used it yet. It cannot be applied in direct sun light (how can I do that here in Florida??) I'm guessing that it will give your liner a new shine look, but for how long? I don't know. I know that the new liner went dull in about 2 months. I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. Depends on how much you want that original shine.

No need to tell, it's all low sulfur unless you buy off-road fuel, then it may or may not be low sulfur. Removing the sulfur isn't what causes the problem, a diesel engine needs zero sulfur. The problem is the process that removes sulfur also removes the fuel's lubricity. All refiners realize this and have compensated by adding back the required lubrication qualities to the fuel. As far as using additives, a poll of folks who had injection pump failures on TDR showed no correlation between use of additives and failures.
I personally only use additive in the winter for it's anti-gel properties.

Ill contact the place I got my liner @ and see about "Rhino Shine Ultra"

I buy my fuel at diffrent places it is all on the road diesel, and nobody around here sells bio-diesel I wonder if the fuel on the interstate is better or worst than hometown fueling stations because of higher turn around?

410 is how many hp the N-14 11-liter ISM Cummins engine is. This engine is used a lot on Volvo semis, in fact that's the only place I've seen the plate you have pictured.
