Seems to be a growing interest in bio-diesel. I've noticed a lot of dyno days and club meets as well. Has anyone tried to get a distributor to attend the meet to discuss the topic? Maybe they could bring a drum and let those that are interested buy 5 gallons or so to test with. If enough people showed an interest maybe more outlets would begin offering it.

Re:Bio
Good idea Mark. I suggest whoever is organizing the get together contact either a local distributor or world energy. I know that every year, the TDI club website has a "tdi fest" get together, and there is always a biodiesel sponsor on the scene, with lots of fuel for everyone to try... Improving biodiesel's popularity and consumption in the diesel truck world would be great. 8) I've run biodiesel in the last 4 tanks in my '04 and it loves it!
Re:Bio
Are you running B100 or cutting it some? I've been running B20 in my '03. One of these days, I'm going to run some thru my old MB rig to see if I get a smoke reduction. I just need some spare fuel filters on hand after the first tank. ;D
Re:Bio
MYTRNx3, The fuel is interchangeable with diesel at any ratio.
I hav ebeen running somewhere between b15-b20 in the cummins I've run b20 in my mercedes since 2001. I also ran 25,000 miles on b100 in my TDI. Bio is great stuff. It definitely makes for a quieter/smoother idle, and reduced smoke. The higher the level of bio, the more this is noticeable. I ran a tank of b70 through my mercedes friday on a drive to ft lauderdale. Ran like it was electric. Biodiesel has very high solvency, so running a high blend once in a while is as nice fuel system cleaner =]
The initial investment really isn't much of anything - either a bunch of gas cans or 55 gal drums worth, the price of the fuel, and the price of a drum pump if you go that route - which is approx 40-150 depending on the pump.

Re:Bio
I didn't see any Bio-diesel distributor in the north Texas area. Anyone in DFW have any idea where to get some B20? I'd like to see how effective fuel is in our trucks.
Love to have the extra lubricity and cetane.

Re:Bio
hopefully they're still in business as their website was down, but basically you can search for almost any city name and biodiesel on google and come up with something.... a few phone calls, you can find some reasonably close..
Re:Bio
Found a slightly cheaper source just north of nashville. They don't ship but I get up there monthly so... I get to pick up my first barrel on Monday.
Finally talked to the right guy up there today. Very interested in promoting bio in our area. Going to help him get a meeting with the Chatt transit. maybe if we can get a few of the local/city/state/fed government agencies interested we can get some local resources for supply
So now, courtesy of a list of stuff from Lightman I HAVE(kicking and screaming the whole way ;D ) to go to Northern Tools and buy stuff

Northern Tool and Bass Pro are two places that can definitely hurt a man's wallet!
Be sure to let us know how smooth that first tank of b20 is! ;D Just from personal experience, I dont think you'll notice much of a difference at lower blends.
