Red face Best exhaust + intake for 99 7.3 Ford for the lowest price???

Yup I said Ford,

But seriously, I am looking for an exhaust system and intake for a 99 7.3 crew cab 4x4 short box with a manual tranny. Its for my Father in-laws birthday, (not my money either, I am just the technical consultant ) He wants better mpg and more sound, but still needs to be legal in CA (ie muffler)

Looking for something easy to install and a full turbo back system (I think, not sure if it has a cat or not. All bolt in for the cheapest price possible is what we are looking for, I have no idea.

I know there a few Ford guys on here, any help will be greatly appreciated.

D-C out!

I installed an MBRP single turbo back exhaust and a AFE intake on my 01 excursion 7.3 and my 03 F-350 6.0. I was very pleased with the sound and fit of both products, both were very easy to install and improved throttle response and increased fuel economy by about .5-1 mpg.

Found a nice inexpensive 4" Turbo back kit from summit, but it is for vehicles with out Catalytic converters, the truck in question has one with 3" in/out. Will it be a problem to graft the oem Cat into the 4" pipe? how much will it affect the sound/ performance? We want to stay legal.

The OEM cat on the '99s is super restrictive. We have seen several trucks with no power and sky high EGTs come in and we have loosened the bolts at the cat and taken the owner for a drive. Voila! The power is back and EGTs are normal. They clog QUICKLY.. If it was my truck, the kitty would be lost. Otherwise, get a higher flowing cat in 4"

I would check out MarkoIdaho on ebay. It's a good price, good quality, and good fitment. I've been running no muffler in CA.

You can look over on the TheDieselStop.com and ask this question. The most inexpensive is going to be the DIY Tymar and probably a 4 inch Diamond Eye Aluminized. Best may be the AFE intake and MBRP Stainless 4 inch.
