Im not sure which sound your hearing, but many of those trucks are "barking" the turbo when they let off.
Thats when the air rushing in to the turbo(s) is no longer needed as the driver lets off the throttle, the air momentarily has no where to go and gets pushed backwards out the filter.

Did anyone else notice the front tires on two of the Chevys turn towards each other under full load?
Is that a normal situation for the IFS?

i was in shock

Rumors are on the other site that this is a stock 6.9 that pulled all the way! WHAT? i dont believe it.. lucky strike.. Psychostroker i might buy, but the fact that BBD couldnt hook up right was beyond me.. that is the kick **** old school i meant.. the chevy dually looks and sounds like a 454.. pull was rather pathetic.. but then again so was the track....

In answer to your question Rich.. Nope.. dad has a chevy with the ifs.. and he has wheeled it hard, and under load.. no pullin well a disk harrow.. before the cummins came to the rescue.. and it shouldnt do that... i noticed it... but i guess it should be corrected with weights... I was disappointed with the track no doubt.. and the nessesity of lockers was evident in that track... open diffs wouldnt do anything...

That's normal... the tierods are the same ones Chevy uses from S10's to the 3500 series. You can get aftermarket tierod sleeves for $80-100. They're fairly common in the pulling trucks around this area.

don't know if we're talking about the same truck, but that old square bodied Chevy had a turbo diesel in it... you can hear it plain as day...

the duramax's variable nozle turbo might have something to do with how they bark so much when you get out of them...

It looked like something blew part way down the track when It really started smoking and at the end it was running away it looks like he put it in gear to stop it....

that track don't have anything to do with power, it's all about who has the biggest tires a set of boggers would have outpulled everyone. looks more like a mud bog than a sled pull

I still enjoy the Kent Crowder full pull, Cynthiana, KY - October 2003 under the open class 'bout midway down the page. One of my favorites
