No I went to Indiana State University for 4 years (2003-2007). I then moved to Columbus Indiana and now I work for Cummins. It is a nice area down that way. Although it is a little flat for me. I like the hills.

903

Hey guys, the USCG still runs the VT 903M with a 509 Twin disc Marine gear. The fuel supply line is -10 aeroquip fc234 hose with a -8 return. Good engine with clean fuel, with minimal air in the system. Adjust your injector plunger about .003, and rotate the nozzles 30 deg, foward, it really helps, on the PT pump, there is a simple spring in the bottom that can be shimmed to really pour the fuel to match the longer plunger duration on the injectors.

It kind of depends on which building he works at, they kind of keep me seperated from the bunch. I don't personally know him, although I do believe that I have heard that name before.

You may have. Thanks for not getting snappy! lol......sometimes when you ask people if they know so-and-so when they work at large companies they say stuff like "do you realize how many people work there?" and stuff like that......

I believe that's the same engine we have in our Bradleys in the Army. We'd beat the heck out of those things, day in, day out, with very few issues and nothing catastrophic. Performed services on it every six months by pulling the Pack (engine and tranny). Changed the oil when UOA deemed it necessary.

As a Bradley driver, I once had one doing 55mph (cross-country, no road) in the California desert. Average weight of a Bradley, by the way, is 50K.

The Coast Guard has them in their 41' boats. If you call the CG station there in Buffalo and ask to speak to someone in engineering, perferably a
MK (machinery tech or motor killer as we liked to call them....), they can probably tell you a lot about the motors. All that I can say is that they are pretty reliable. We ran the crap out of them and they held up pretty good. They are being phased out now.
Good luck and take care.

The Bradley tank runs a 903. We (Cummins) work on those at the proving grounds. 903 is a bad *** engine. The Cummins QST30 is one bad SOB. It is actually a Komatsu engine with a Cummins badge. It is a v12 with twin bosch p-pumps, one for each bank. Cummins runs these on all their 750kw to 1000kw gensets. The QST30 can run at like 80% on one bank.

It is nothing compared to a 2-Stage QSK78. A V18 with 12 turbos, 2 intercoolers, and 6 aftercoolers. Single stage 78's have 6 turbos and the 2-Stage has 6 low pressure turbos compounding the 6 high pressure turbos. You will find these in Komatsu 930e 400ton haul trucks.

I've swapped out a couple crankshafts on them and ran a few on the engine dyno, but they are wicked.

The QSK60's are beasts too. I've overhauled maybe 10 or so of those. They are in 830e haul trucks and in Cummins Power Generation gensets from 1750kw up to 2250kw. The QSK60's in the 2250kw gensets are rated at 3040hp and last time I load banked one it was running about 120inHg (60psi). The QSK60 now has a common rail fuel system along with the KTA50's

Don't call the Bradley a tank around Bradley guys. They get pretty particular when it comes to that misnomer and have absolutely no love for the Abrams guys.
