Anyone else NOT like exhaust tips?

Just wondering. I don't run a tip on my Silverline 4". I wish I had a full 5" system, I think they look great. I think a big tip is just an unnecessary piece of equipment that lets one pretend that they have a big exhaust. I personally think they look silly - just a big hunk of metal bolted to the end of a pipe.

Anyone else share this opinion? Show some pics of yours if you have them.

I don't like tips either I think it looks dumb to put a 6" tip that is 5"s long on a 4" pipe where everyone can tell it is a tip. If the tip is the same size as the pipe I think they look ok however. There is a guy in town that has stacks on his truck that go from 5" about half way up his back window to 7" the rest of the way up. It looks butchered imo.

Ive even seen the opposite look bad. My buddy with a F250 got a 5" system from Summit and got their 5" tip for it. The tip was actually expanded where it connected with the tailpipe (5" ID) and then was 5" OD for the rest of the tip. Made it have that "anteater" look.

To me the big 5" and 6" tips on 4" pipe are the equivalent of those fake stick on hood scoops that you get at Pep Boys - all looks, no function.

The reason I installed a tip is to get the factory exhaust further out so it doesn't soot up the bumper so bad. And it seems to work.

Same here. I have a 4" tail spout turndown to keep the RV white instead of gray. I agree however, the silly 6" tip on the pipe looks silly, especially if its on some Skyjacker that you can see its only the stock or 4" pipe to begin with.

I'm not a big fan of the belled up ones, either.

On my last truck though, I had one of the 4" polished Meg's stainless steel ones.

I like the clean look with no clamp, it did add a little dressed up look, and mostly it kept soot off of my bumper.

Me too. Adds some time in between when it NEEDS to be washed.

I perfer a exhaust tip. This is my 5' slash tip on a 4' exhaust. I like the way it looks rather than a big exhaust and no tip to break up the difference on the exit.

I have a 5" tip on my 4" exhaust. I like it and its not that I'm trying to make it look like I have something that I don't, I just think it gives it a cleaner look.
I have seen some 6" tips on 4" exhaust that does look hideous though.

on the newer models the 6" tip on 4" exhaust Makes it sooo darn loud. I think that is another reason why some go with a larger tip.

I have 4 inch exhaust on my truck, I painted the pipe with High temp silver and put a 5 inch slash cut tip on it. I's 18 inches long so it takes up some of the space under the truck. I think it looks good being a longer tip, a shorter tip doesn't look good to me. There is a 3rd gen truck running around here with a flat black 5 inch exhaust with no tip, I think it looks good.

here's mine
