i run it, just put another case in today, change the filter at 7500 miles and the oil and filter at 15,000. i run the synthetic diesel/marine 15/40. i run the 2 cycle in everything i play with and have had no oil falures. the power valves on my 2000 ski doo look so clean it ticks me off every year when i pull them out to clean them!

next is the diffs and tranny. its good oil.

Me too!, just picked up 10 Gal today HD 15/40 + I add 1 qt synth to my oil changes in my (old) VW-d's that use Dino

in CTD - 5k filter / 20k changes for me, tranny and all gearboxes have had since new (PO) currently 150k HARD miles ((PO)was field truck for commercial well driller )

AMSOIL was in my first Dodge truck purchase - '73 D100 CC w/360 Auto, it had tugged a HEAVY 32' Holiday Rambler around for 130k, I put another very hard 200k with only a timing chain ($19) for parts, then I burnt a valve, so dismantled, and found that the Cyl still had Cross hatch marks !!! !!! What an awesome Gen 1 that was, I should have kept it for a CTD transplant on my 1T chassis

(I should have started with Dodge instead of GMC, since my dad had a fleet of '50 stub nose fuel and oil trucks, as well as a few early PowerWagons for the mud and snow)

I like Amsoil in my gasser but I don't like how they don't offer a 5w40 in diesel oil. I've also been quite turned off by their universal declarations of superiority. For instance in drivetrain fluids, more specifically transmissions there are many fluids, Amsoil claims theirs is good enough for all of them where as Redline makes one special for each kind. Anyway back to the point, as long as Wally World carries Delvac (5w40) I'm going to keep running that in my diesels.

I like asmoil, 7500 filter, 15000 oil. Previous owner has ran it since that first time he chagned oil.
I got a flier the other day showing an new line of amsoil 5W30. They call it the series 3000 and they say it reduces fuel comsuption. It is a synthetic diesel oil like the 15W40. A little more expensive then the 15W40 also, $32 a gallon instead of $22. The only difference that I can see, other than the weight, is that this is a diesel and gas oil while the 15W40 is a diesel and marine oil. Has anyone had any experience with this oil.

3000 Series is what I've been running in my gasser for the past 3-4 years, it is also 5w30. This stuff is amazingly thin at freezing temperatures, about like water still. I wasn't aware it was also for diesels!? Does it have a CI-4 rating?

I talked to Cummins and asked them about the extended change intervals. They had no problems with synthetic lubes but did not recommend the extended lube changes. If they don't recommend extending the intervals in lube changes I may as well stay with the dyno I am using.

Exactly. And wear numbers will probably be the same.

Without adding a bypass filter I don't think extending the interval is a very good idea either.

Amsoil is amazing! My fathers 02 cummins has a Amsoil dual filter setup on it and we dont change the oil. Just every month have a small sample sent out for analysis and it always comes back with good results. The filtration is down to a micron for what wever been told. We've been running the truck now for about 70K with the amsoil in it with no problems what so ever. Anyone else running this setup???

This is in a gasser but Amsoil nontheless... The longest lasting Cummins in a Ram I'm aware of ran 1,114,000+ on Shell Rotella 15w-40 dinosaur juice. I don't mind changing my oil. It gives me the opportunity to lay under my truck. I'll likely wind up using Mobil-1 in my Hemi now that it's past 10k miles and Valvoline Premium Blue again in my next Cummins. Has anyone tried extended OCI with dino oil? With the manual stating 7500-15,000 OCI, and the Signature 600 with Cummins oil managment system having over 500,000 mile OCI using Valvoline Premium Blue, I'd have to conclude dino oil would do pretty good.
