From today's issue of Autotech Daily:
APB: MISSING DCX TRANSMISSIONS
Nearly 500 transmissions produced by DaimlerChrysler AG have been reported missing after they failed to show up at various vehicle assembly plants in Mexico. The gearboxes were made at two plants in Kokomo, Ind., then loaded onto trucks for shipment to Mexico. The automaker says it has encountered similar problems in the past and is working with police to determine what happened. The company values the missing transmissions at $1,000 each.

Almost but not exactly, wouldn't the manufacturer insurance claim be the higher retail value instead of the manufacturing cost anyway? Nat

Not on my policies anyway. Your not supposed to benefit from a theft claim. Only recoup costs. That is why my carrier always asks me what I paid for my trucks or any material that goes missing on site. But I was just speculating on the trans thefts.

I think the industry standard is you NEVER know what your covered for until you have a settlement in hand!
Well, maybe not the standard- just my experience....had $60k ins. on building and ins. company insisted it had to be covered for $220k! Outragous but I went for it, 2 years later had a total loss and the insurance company tried to settle for total replacement at $92,000!!
The co. is Reamstown, Pa. [if names allowed?] STY
