I'm past "middle age" as I tell the Great-grand-daughter

Due to the fact that WE can use and have the time to play with our trucks, WE also use the computer and since the kids are raised do have some disposable income.

I don't post very often because I'm a future CTD owner, but I am 22. I agree how do 17year olds spend $4k on parts for a truck? Must be nice.

There is hope

Well from reading the posts from the younger crowd, it seems to me that most of the youth of America that have the right upbringing, discipline and attitude drive BOMB'd Cummins diesels .

I don't doubt any of these younguns on here and there ability to work hard and afford these trucks. What I remember at that age though was the only jobs available being minimum wage or close to it. It was hard to afford day to day living expenses and keep a beater on the road, much less an even at that time $20,000 truck plus maintenace, fuel and insurance for it.

yup im 20 and been working at least 40 hour weeks since graduating high school in 03. i got a great job right outta school and then moved up again last year. I give up alot of luxuries to afford the truck but living at home is not bad and i dont really regret not ebing able to take $500 weekend trips to the beach and/or go skiing int eh mountains once a month.

2 weeks after graduation i bought my frist truck which was an 03 ford lightning for $33k with a payment of $620 a month, lasted a year before i grew tired and smart and got a CTD. I will never give up my current truck unless a WELL equipped and powered 12v came along. i work hard and play harder, i just wish i could get some side work for the weekends hauling with my truck, make some extra bucks doing what these trucks do best...WORK

I dont work for minimum wage never have and never will. My skills are worth way more than that. Im a fabricator at a well known kit car company. And the only reason that I have this truck because I got a heck of a deal on it.

Hey Fordman, I think your takin me to serious here, not knockin or doubting young folks at all, just jealous. My kid is one of you but his thing is his Trans Am. At 17 years old drivin around a car I would still love to have at my age but can't afford. I'm jealous of him to.

You confirmed what I said. I am just looking for the reason for the disparity between the age groups apparently on here and the TYPICAL demographics of Hot Rod groups and the like. Even down at the strip you would typically see HS kids or 40 and up. The non-scientific poll shows 20-30. Right when MOST people are starting families and buying houses.

Actually the 50% line is somewhere in the 31 - 40 group.
Could be more oldsters aren't answering because they're smart, snowbirding down south where it's warm right now and away from the computer.
