Talking 95 12v vs 9924v, which one?

hey guys, its been a while since ive been on here by i turn to you for some advice. im in need of pickup soon, and ive found two that have caught my eye. theres a 99 2500 ex cab 5 speed with edge with attitude, afe stage II intake, 150hp stick, 550hp southbend, 5in exh, ARP studs, and holley lift pump. the 95 is a 3500 ex cab 5 speed, and as far as i know, its stock, gna go take a look at it on saturday. both 4wd, and around 210-220,xxx miles

ive never messed with 24v's before but i sure loved my 94 12v. im looking for a DD that i will occasionaly tow with. but i also want something that i can do some weekend rodding with. they want 7.5K for the 95 and 10K for the 99, both within my price range, even though the 99 is pushing it. what are the pros and cons of either truck and which one do you suppose i can get more bang for my buck? once i make either purchase, my budget will be very minimal for a while.
thanks, sal.

Only 2 kinds of VP44 injection pumps.....those that have gone out and those on the way out I would not own a 98.5-2002 because of that, but it is up to YOU and not ME

I would take the one that is stock, and run away from the one with all the aftermarket stuff. On most old trucks that I have looked at, if something didn't work right, it always turned out to be something that someone had already screwed with and made it worse. To me, the less someone has touched it, the better. Also, a truck with much higher power has more chance of being abused. JMHO

Yes and for good reason, they were designed for that amount of power.
The stock AT is actually very stout and reliable as long as you don't jack the hp up.
If you turn it up more than 50 hp the tranny won't last long at all.

I'd hate to get a leaky 53 block too. And I just happen to like the sound of a 12v with a granny 5 speed behind it.

If the 10k of the 99 is pushing your budget limit, I agree with above posters and go with the 95, and sink 2-3k into it. The 99 should have great power with the mods, and I wouldn't really be weary of buying a modded truck myself, but there is a better chance of something major needing replacement with the 24V (injection pump!) than the mechanical 12V. Good luck!
