92 4x4 suburban.... with a 12 valve!!!

So i think that my dad and i are going to put a 12v in our suburban. We were at diesel nats today and a buddy of mine has a 95 12v engine thats making 650 horses and 1200 some odd ft/lbs. We're seriously considering it. Thoughts?

DO IT! Putting a Cummins in anything will make it better. I'd put a Cummins in a Geo if I had the time and means to do it.

I've thought about putting a 4bt into an S-10. A 12 valve in my 86 GMC 3/4 ton. A CR into a conversion van. So many possibilities.

It will if you either A: use a 2wd with a different spring rate or B: swap torsion bars in from a 1/2 or 3/4 ton.

a buddy of mine swapped a 24 valve and 6 speed into his 95chevy truck, its SWEEEET, drives like a chevy runs like a cummins! the best of both worlds! It is a 1 ton but from what i understand the cummins only ways like 300lbs more then a 6.5 so i dont see why 3/4 or even 1/2 ton tortion bars wouldnt hold up to it as long as your not offroading it to much.

a 92 burban's still got the solid axle and leaf springs. its the old body style. Just need to get some heavier springs and thats about it as far as the front suspension goes. I think we're def. going to do it. Now were just debating on how to do the exhaust. i think we're gonna put two 8" tips straight out the back.... I think it'll be the craziest suburban ever. My dad basically said that it was either the cummins in the suburban or he's buying his buddy's 6.0hno King Ranch.... Either way he's keeping his 7.3 which i have to say is not a bad engine at all

They stopped the old body style in '91 and started the new one in '92. Your's has to be a '91.

a friend of a friend has a 4bt in a 88 suburban has had it for at least four years and loves it. tows two horse trailer over mt passes just fine. buddy was following in his first gen cummins with his two horse trailer. a 6bt may eat up the gm drivetrain from what i have been hearing. if i did mine i would see if the axles would swap to.
