I don't see why an engine change would signify a generation change? The 07 truck/platform is the same and remains relatively unchanged since 03.

I bet the 08 or 09 truck will be the 4th gen. Just look at the Dodge Nitro, thats is what I think the 4th gens will look like. And I like the way those look!

Man the ne Nitros and the new Chevys look terrible......of course thats what I thought of the 99 Chevys, the 03 Dodges, and the 06 Super Dutys.....may grow on me in time.
