4BT the 6BTs little brother

I put the little 4BT motor into an old 1963 LandRover. Just finished it enough to where i could take it out on the trail. Man, what a hoot! That little motor kicks EDIT. I just had to tell some one.

Here's a clip of the old beast coming through a mud hole

clip removed due to foul language

Im a LandCruiser man myself but your rig looks great! Congrats on the 4bt! Ive debated doing that with my 87 FJ60...or should I just find a drivetrain from a Euro-Diesel landcruiser and make it look factory?

It wasn't a particularly hard swap, in fact it was much simpler than the small block chevy I had originally planned, especially from the wiring perspective. One thing I did find was that the motor is so tall that i would have had a real tough time if I hadn't also done a spring over lift at the same time.

As for doing the swap in your FJ60, there was a great swap on ebay just a week ago with one of these in an FJ80. It looked like a great fit. I think the work was done by Proffitts Cruisers.

Mine is pretty much a trail truck 95% of the time. If you're doing one as a daily driver you'll need to put more thought into gearing and such compared to what I've done.
