as soon as i come up with a 4bt that is exactly what i'm gonna do,already have a flywheel lined up and i have an nv4500 already so.it's just a matter of time,my old 6.5 is getting to the point that it needs lots of stuff,t-chain,inj's g-plugs,pump rebuild, etc,i figure it will be close to or cheaper to go with the 4bt.and way cooler.

Would love to put one in my wifes 99 2 dr Tahoe. With a 4" lift and 33s the old 350 just aint getting it done and at 12 mpg it is time for a change!

A friend of mine converted his 86 Chevy to a 4bt Cummins. He used the adaptor plate and other parts from a bread truck. The engine is an 89 or so model with an aftercooler, rated at 125 HP. It pulls the pickup very well and gets around 20-23 mpg (much better than the 305 with 200k, that got around 12 mpg). It was a relatively easy swap for him, but since you will probably get a newer pickup with IFS, it may be different. He used the 700R4 that was in the pickup, but got a new TC and governor. It has held up well, although he has not had it done for long, and he does not tow much with it.

I'd think that if you weren't planning on towing or hauling much with it, a 4bt would be the cat's meow.
