Wow those marine engines put out horse power.truck engines at the most were 300 my service truck only has 220 and its slow and gutless.I would have to say that engine is set up as hot as it will take.I have not seen any kind of programmers chips ets for cat 3126 engines and for any kind of HP or fuel settings we always have to get a password from cat.Im sure there could be some hackers out there I just ave not looked.

I'd say if you want more power than that, you should look at a bigger engine.

Are you sure its a 3126b and not a 3116 I thought when cat went to 3126 they were electronic.I work for a Cat dealer I will ask a guy in our compnent shop what kind of mods to do.I think you can set the pump up a little and mess with timing but not much more.

3176 was the first all electronic cat engine.

there was a 3126E I've seen them. but not sure if it came before or after the 3176. I never liked the 3176 with that huge aluminum intermediate between the block and the head though.

It was way after the 3176. Yeah the 2 piece block was not a big hit, it was replaced with the C-10. I have seen those 3176 engines with 1 million miles on them, surprisingly enough.

The 3176 was the first Cat diesel designed from the ground up to be all electronically controlled. Mid 1980's.

Are you sure its a 3126B? I know its apples to oranges with yours being a marine engine but the 3126B in our D6Ns at work are only rated for about 180hp and are governed to 2300rpm. 420hp?! I think you need a bigger engine but you could ask around for different programming. I know our local Cat dealer doesn't like anything over stock.

420 is correct for a marine engine. With the fresh water cooling and the keel coolers....
