i am putting together a new truck, the goal is 30mpg and 11 second quarters. i have purchases a 58 chevy 1/2 ton short bed. i will uses a 2002 dodge 3/4 ton frame[disk all around and a dana 80 rear] it will be shortened to fit the short bed body. i will keep the stock dodge ride height, but i will channel the 58 body deep onto it. yes it will still be a brick as far as the wind is concerned, but it will be a low brick. and i could always chop the top to help out a bit. now this will be one of my low buck specials, because i don't have any bucks. it willl be running a twin turbo 12v and a 5 speed to start with. but when the bucks allow, it will get a auto. the dana 80 has 3.54s and i will stick some 285s on the rear to gear it up a bit. and maybe some 215's in the front to get the rake i want.
