26 Mpg !?!?

I did a hand calculation of my MPG since I topped it off last.

Drove 116 miles on 4.4 gallons of fuel.

I'll tell you what - dump that whole bottle of Power Service in there.

I got a deal on some bottles of it, so I said what the heck and dumped 2 bottles in.

I can't believe how smooth the truck runs - and I got 26 MPG!

downhill, with the wind and the engine turned off? Good numbers if thats what you actually got.

What does it cost you for power service in your area? its about $10 a bottle here....

I don't know what I could have possibly done wrong to miscalculate it.

Topped it off Tuesday, reset the trip at the station.

Put 116 miles on it and topped it off last night, couldn't fit more than 4.4 gallons in it.

Yeah, PS is $10 here too, but I got it for $2 a bottle at my buddies store.

If you add in the two quarts of power service, thats 116 miles for 4.9 gallons, 23.6 mpg, unless you added the PS first, then filled up, then you can disregard my math.

116 miles is just not far enough. You need to drive 400 to 500 miles then fill up and calculate the mileage. fuel temp, angle of the tank and the pump could all cause problems with such a small # of miles.

I got 25mpg on my 97 the day I took it home. It was all interstate driving from Amarillo to Fayetteville. Of course two weeks later the stock plate was at FF. I never got that high again.

The plate and its position should have nothing to do with the mileage.
The plate only comes into effect with a lot of peddle movement or load.

Well I should add when i adjust a plate I also adjust the star wheel and when something has more power I tend to use the extra power.

The best I've seen on mine was 21 MPG. and that was on a 500 mile trip slight up hill grade all the way there and down hill all the way back @ 60-65 MPH except the few times I lost control and romped on it.
