2008 Freightliner SportChassis will have a...

The time has finally come! I don't know if there is anyone that has/uses/etc a Freightliner SportChassis or similar truck, but I just learned yesterday that our inventory stock will include some with a CUMMINS!

According to the SportChassis website it is:
Cummins ISC-330 330 HP@2000 RPM; 2200 GOV, 1000 LB/FT @ 1400 RPM

I hope it sticks around for a while. I'm told that it will only be in production until Mercedes gets "the bugs worked out"... but I'm just so excited I had to tell someone!

It was literally a couple weeks ago I told my boss that they should build these things with a Cummins option. Sure enough, he comes into my office and tells me I got my wish.

I could EASILY get into having one of these in my garage!!

When I bought my 2006 3500 I was seriously considering moving a cab up at that time. Well - now I know I'm going to give it more serious consideration.

Haven't seen any pricing data on the 2008 models yet. The list on the 07 trucks we have right now range from $128k to $138k. I'm told that the trucks coming off the line are still 2007 models. No idea when they're going to make the switch.

I don't have one of those crew cab, sportchassis...but a run of the mill M2 with a 21' aluminum roll back, and a MBE900 (230/660) will haul anything the truck can handle and do just fine That's the older spec, 6.4L MBE too

Although I would give anything to have about a 330hp ISC in our 99 FL80 instead of the 3126E CAT

BTW, that's a heck of a jump from the $41K price on our M2

yeah but those sport chassis models have some sweet interior.plus the crew cab adds god knows how much to the price.i looked for the longest time for just a basic crew cab fl60-70 and to go from the same model day cab to a crew cab the price increased about 3 fold.then it seemed like they all had cats.

They are definitely plush, I'll say that much!

And yes, for a long time the 275hp CAT was standard in them. I'm not sure when the Mercedes became the standard engine, but it was just a couple of years ago.

After owning one, you couldn't give me a CAT...I think it's reliable, but talk about gutless.

I'd rather have a 2 stroke Detroit...they're gutless, but at least you have something that sounds cool

I work for freightliner in NC and the only cummins we use are the double overhead cam 600hp engine, and they go overseas because they had not complied to the new emisssion laws. I have not heard that they were finally getting with the program, I hope it will do better than the mercedes "pain to work on".

I work for Cummins in Columbus and we have just began production of the new 6.7Liter Evolution engine which will be for Freightliner, Ford 650?s, and Volvo's. We have only produced around 30 engines so far but will be ramping up production in the coming weeks. This is a fact.
