2007 Heavy Duty Shootout
2007 Heavy Duty Shootout
Gas and Diesel, 6.7 vs 6.4 vs Duramax
V10 vs Hemi, vs 6.0L Vortec
7% grade, 15% grade, towing 10,500#
I can't wait for parts 2 and 3.
** I found a mistake as well. The GVWR listed for the 3500 QC Dually Dodge is wrong. They list it as 10,100# which is the GVWR for a 3500 SRW. The 3500 Dually is 12,200#. The Ford guys over at RV.net say the F350 GVWR is wrong too.

Reading it now, looks good.

No offence to dmax owners, but this this is UGLY.

The F-450 had the same 6.4-liter PSD as the F-350, but due to the truck’s very low final drive ratio, power was detuned to 325-horsepower and 600 lbs-ft of torque. This is a new power management approach from Ford that we believe is used to increase engine life.
LOLOLOL

Why couldn't they have just finished it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'll have to wait a few more weeks to see it all finished.

When we started it up, the Ram visibly shivered from all of the torque as the Cummins cranked over.

I cant stand the tailpipe on the Chubbys. I would hang that sucker on something in no time. It looks ok in that pic but the ones I see around have this god awful piece of pipe hangin' out the back.
Well today I went out and test drove a new 6.7L CTD, fully loaded, laramie quad cab 4x4 minus the navigation system. I was very impressed with the power, the tranny was very nice along with the selectable gear deal (nothing new I know but still neat the way Dodge set it up). It was a hair laggy on the bottom but the turbo took a fraction of a second to spool up and take off. Also, it was QUIET! I'm used to my straight piped 12v and this thing was whisper quiet. Overall I was very impressed with the 6.7, nothing wrong with it in my eyes (besides the new emissions equipment
)
Now if I could only get my old man to trade his 04' Nissan Titan off
.
But back on topic, this review seems to be fairly legit, trying to make it as fair as possible. It'll interesting to see how the trucks stack up.

Why couldn't they just get a Dodge Cummins with the 3.73 gears, like both of the other diesels? Why put in a Dodge with 4.10s? Geesh!
IF they are trying to make it as even across the board as possible....that is a really simple and no brainer thing IMO.

Trying to keep it even as possible, eh? Why do both the Dodge and GM have V8 gas engines and they put a Ford in there with a V10?
Does Ford not offer a V8 gas engine in their heavy duty trucks? Or are they just setting Ford up to win again like last year?

.But you're right, they should have gotten a truck with the 5.4 to make it equal.
